Putting jokes aside, here are some beginner tips to assist you in making progress and going further in each run of this merciless side-scrolling platformer.
Always Use Your Tools!
It is important to use tools such as the Composite Bow or Chakram frequently rather than sparingly. These tools offer a significant increase in damage and many of them are ranged attacks, which makes them a safer choice for dealing with enemies and preserving valuable health points.
Using tools consumes energy, but you can quickly replenish it by attacking enemies. If your energy is constantly at maximum, it means you are not utilizing your tools effectively.
Explore the Map Vertically
Upon completing several runs, one will observe that the stages are considerably large. Typically, the path to the next area is traversed from left to right; however, exploring downwards or upwards may lead to the discovery of valuable items such as chests containing Spirit Glimmers, consumables that boost maximum health, or healing aids.
Although there may be multiple traps leading to these areas, as you become more accustomed to avoiding them, you can take advantage of using these items to increase your power.
Mix Kicks Mid-Combo
During enemy attacks, some may charge up while being hit. To stagger them, continue hitting them, but using kicks is often more effective in stopping their attack animation. Kicks can be incorporated into your weapon combo, making them nearly instantaneous. Certain Medallions even recommend using kicks to achieve additional effects, like releasing a poison cloud by kicking an enemy towards an obstacle.
Use the Terrain to Your Advantage
When it comes to dealing with enemies, you can simply kick them off the ledge or into spike traps. This will instantly kill them if they fall far enough. You don’t even need to go near them to collect the gold, as it will automatically be collected once they are defeated. Kicking enemies off the ledge is the most efficient way to defeat them, but be cautious when facing shielded enemies as they are not affected by kicks or attack combos.
Play Around Shielded Enemies
Shielded enemies are not easily staggered or knocked back, so it is important to swiftly break their shield with a tool or focus on defeating other enemies before attempting to attack a shielded enemy. This will ensure a more effective approach to dealing with shielded enemies.
Replace Medallions for Better Upgrades
During your gameplay, you will come across a variety of Medallions, which can be found in chests, randomly spawned, or purchased from the merchant. These Medallions offer different levels of upgrades, and some have unique effects when fully upgraded.
When standing next to a Medallion upgrade, you can see the effects it will have. Once you pick it up, you have the option of placing it in one of your four slots. If a slot is available, you can use the Medallion to replace another one, as long as the upgrade is available. Each Medallion has a small diamond icon below it, and if you hover the newly acquired Medallion over an existing one, you may see an additional diamond icon. This indicates that the new Medallion will receive the upgrade when placed in that slot.
Guidance for Spending Your Gold
During your encounters with merchants, you will consistently find a variety of items for sale, including weapons and consumables. If your objective is to advance as far as possible in each playthrough, it is advisable to use your gold to increase your strength. Hoarding gold is not a beneficial tactic, as defeating enemies before reaching the next merchant will always provide you with sufficient gold.
If you did not defeat a sufficient number of enemies, you may only have enough gold to purchase one or two items, but that is acceptable. You can alternatively decide to use fast travel and engage in battles with additional enemies in order to acquire enough gold for a single item.
Dying is Part of the Game
If you’re struggling with frequent deaths, you have the option to either increase your efficiency in using health potions to prolong your survival or focus on obtaining more Spirit Glimmers to enhance your player. Remember, every unsuccessful attempt brings you closer to success. Obtain those Spirit Glimmers and dominate your next run.
The Importance of Weapon Upgrades in Battle
To ensure maximum effectiveness, it is recommended to familiarize yourself with all weapon types, even if you have a preference for one in particular. As depicted in the image above, each weapon has a designated level next to it. As you advance through stages, the dropped weapons become increasingly powerful. Keep in mind that these drops are randomized, so it is advisable to utilize the strongest one in terms of damage output.
Learn Enemy Attack Patterns
After completing a hundred runs, your success is determined by your ability to handle the enemies. If you struggle to adapt to their attacks, the journey will be arduous and challenging. Make an effort to memorize their attack patterns so you can conserve your HP during tougher levels in the game.
