Numerous characters in Jujutsu Kaisen were subjected to the fates envisioned by creator Gege Akutami. Even with the series reaching its conclusion, fans continue to discuss the endings assigned to various characters, debating their fairness and implications.

Figures like Suguru Geto, Kento Nanami, Hiromi Higuruma, Riko Amanai, and others arguably deserved more favorable conclusions than what they received. While adjusting the fate of some characters may only slightly affect the overall narrative, shifts in the outcomes of others could significantly change the fabric of Jujutsu Kaisen. 1) Suguru Geto

Suguru Geto tops the list of Jujutsu Kaisen characters who were shortchanged with their endings. The circumstances surrounding his conclusion felt unjust. In Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Geto made a profound impact, and his role in Gojo’s Past Arc was nothing short of exceptional. He was poised to be the series’ primary antagonist, equipped with compelling skills, strong connections to other characters, and clear motivations.

However, Akutami later revealed that another entity was controlling his actions. Geto embodied the traits necessary for a main villain due to the intensely personal nature of his internal conflict. After witnessing the corruption in the Jujutsu World, Gojo’s best friend took a divergent path, showcasing the perils of entrusting Curse exorcism to teenagers.

2) Kento Nanami

Among the fan-favorites in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe is Kento Nanami. As a Grade 1 Sorcerer, Nanami emerged as an essential mentor figure for protagonist Yuji Itadori. His combat capabilities are legendary, with his nickname, the 7:3 sorcerer, stemming from his signature technique. Despite this, there was more potential for his character to be explored.

He predominantly appears during the Vs. Mahito Arc and the Shibuya Incident Arc, but his presence felt overshadowed compared to other characters benefitting from more screen time. Instead of meeting an untimely end battling Mahito alone, a survival arc that allowed him to participate in further confrontations would have been more fitting.

3) Mai Zenin

Among the notable female characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, Mai Zenin stands out as Maki Zenin’s sister. Both faced discrimination within their clan due to a perceived lack of talent in Jujutsu. However, unlike Maki, Mai was initially content to live under their family’s oppressive control. Her sister’s rebellion pushed Mai to embrace her identity as a sorcerer, leading to feelings of resentment towards Maki.

Her sacrifice to transfer her remaining Cursed Energy to Maki to unleash her Heavenly Restriction was a poignant and touching moment. Yet, this also marked an emotional reconciliation between the sisters. Had Mai not made this sacrifice, witnessing the duo fight together would have been a thrilling addition to the storyline and potentially altered the battle’s dynamics in Shinjuku.

4) Gojo Satoru

No discussion of Jujutsu Kaisen characters is complete without mentioning Gojo Satoru. As one of the most iconic figures in anime and manga, Gojo was sidelined for a significant portion of the plot when he became sealed away, ultimately meeting his end in the battle against Ryomen Sukuna. While the narrative choices surrounding his fate are understandable, Gojo truly deserved to see the story through to its culmination.

He underwent substantial growth following the Star Plasma incident, taking a path contrary to Geto’s. With his best friend gone, he bore the loneliness of being the strongest sorcerer. Additionally, Gojo did not witness his aspiration of nurturing future generations of sorcerers come to fruition. Given the returning cast of characters, Gojo’s survival would have been warranted to help pave the way for a new era in Jujutsu Society.

5) Hiromi Higuruma

Recognized as one of three characters with potential rivaling that of Gojo, Hiromi Higuruma awakened his Cursed Technique during the initial phases of the Culling Games after Kenjaku initiated Idle Transfiguration. With just over a month of training, he quickly acclimated to his newfound abilities, even picking up Reverse Cursed Technique mid-battle against Sukuna.

Despite his prowess, Higuruma’s fate took a downturn when he faced Sukuna’s strikes head-on. After being injured, he was largely absent until the final chapters. Fans felt deprived of the opportunity to see a character brimming with potential fully realized in combat. Although he played a role in the fight, the ultimate fate of his technique and his character’s journey came across as unjust. He surely deserved a more impactful presence in the storyline.

6) Yu Haibara

As a minor supporting character in Jujutsu Kaisen, Yu Haibara remains relatively unknown among fans. A first-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High alongside Nanami in 2006, he had limited screen time and little backstory revealed. His character met an untimely end when a mission went awry while partnered with Nanami.

The series could have offered more development for Yu, who came across as a compelling character with unique dynamics with Nanami. While his abilities were not thoroughly explored, he could be classified as a Grade 2 sorcerer, indicating he was powerful enough to make an impact. The consequences of his death rippled through the lives of both Nanami and Geto, suggesting that building his character further before his demise would have been advantageous.

7) Toji Fushiguro

Toji Fushiguro is another significant character in the Jujutsu Kaisen narrative. As the father of Megumi Fushiguro, he was one of the few individuals capable of posing a threat to Gojo.
