Prime Video has just added one of the top movies of 2024, and it won’t be accessible on another platform anytime soon. See you on the court!
This year has been fantastic for cinema lovers, featuring titles like Dune: Part Two, Rebel Ridge, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Longlegs—some of the best movies of 2024.
However, there’s a standout film that has maintained significant popularity online: Challengers, directed by Luca Guadagnino. This captivating tennis drama stars Zendaya alongside her two romantic interests, Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor.
As of September 19, you can stream Challengers on Prime Video as part of your regular subscription. It was initially available through the MGM+ add-on but is now included in the main library of the streaming service.
The narrative unfolds over 13 years, chronicling the rise and fall of Tashi Duncan (Zendaya), along with her devoted lovers, Patrick Zweig (O’Connor) and Art Donaldson (Faist). These long-time friends find their friendship tested by their competing affections for Tashi.
That’s a rather tame description—ultimately, they all have a strong sexual attraction to one another, with the film relishing in intensifying the romance.
As our contributor Jessica Cullen noted, “the leading trio is so talented that the result is something self-aware, highly stylized, and (at times) genuinely provocative. Think Cruel Intentions, but better, and with an umpire.”
Don’t just take our word for it; the film boasts a Certified Fresh score of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and has grossed nearly $95 million worldwide.
