2025 Release Announcement for The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei Anime Revealed Through Key Visual

On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, Pony Canyon announced the production of the highly anticipated The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei anime alongside an exciting teaser visual. This anime series is set to premiere in 2025, although no specific release date has been revealed yet. The announcement also included key details about the main production staff.

The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei anime is adapted from the spin-off manga series by Aki Shimizu, which serves as both a prequel and a spin-off to the renowned Hyakki Yako novel series by Natsuhiko Kyogoku. The manga was originally serialized in Kodansha’s Shonen Magazine Edge before transitioning to Kodansha’s Comic Days website.

The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei Anime Production Confirmed

The official X (formerly Twitter) account of Pony Canyon confirmed the production of The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei anime on October 1, 2024. The series, which is based on Aki Shimizu’s spin-off manga, showcased a teaser visual along with the announcement of its release scheduled for 2025.

The teaser visual highlights the main characters, Kana Kusakabe and her Japanese teacher Akihiko Chuzenji. Following the announcement, the official staff also launched a new website and X account to keep fans updated. Additionally, a celebratory visual accompanied by a message from Aki Shimizu has been shared.

The illustration features the main characters, Kana Kusakabe and Akihiko Chuzenji. Aki Shimizu expressed their astonishment regarding The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei anime, noting their honor and excitement as a viewer for this adaptation.

In addition to Aki Shimizu, a message from Natsuhiko Kyogoku, the author of the original series, has also been released. The esteemed author’s thoughts, translated from Japanese to English, reflect their awe with the following statement:

“A man was born from the string of letters I wrote, and with the magic of Aki Shimizu, he acquired a physical form, and now he can move and speak. Moreover, he seems to be young. I can’t help but be surprised.”

Chihiro Kumano, known for their work on A Couple of Cuckoos and Moriarty the Patriot, is directing The Mononoke Lecture Logs of Chuzenji-sensei anime at 100Studio, with Atsushi Oka serving as both scriptwriter and supervisor. The character design is being handled by Masahiko Suzuki.

The narrative follows Kana Kusakabe, a female student, as she meets her new Japanese teacher, Akihiko Chuzenji, with whom she encounters a series of bizarre and supernatural occurrences.
