20-Year-Old Girl Group Member’s Secret Pregnancy Hidden from Mother and Management

In a striking contrast to the typical custody arrangements following a divorce, Yulhee has famously relinquished custody of her children, attracting substantial public scrutiny. Amid these challenging circumstances, she recounted her experiences with remarkable composure during a television appearance.

Yulhee, who gained fame as a member of the girl group LABOUM, found herself unexpectedly pregnant in 2017 while in a relationship with Choi Min-hwan. At merely 20 years of age, she chose to keep her pregnancy a secret, fearing the impact it might have on her career in the entertainment industry.

The first individuals privy to her condition were her younger sister and the stylist manager. Interestingly, despite her pregnancy, Yulhee continued to engage in various activities, aided by her stylist manager who provided her with comfortable attire for her work commitments.

However, as she moved into her third and fourth months of pregnancy, physical changes became apparent. Experiencing back pain and shortness of breath, she often found herself resting her hand on her growing belly while socializing, as if bracing for what she feared could be her final performance.

Eventually, the secret could no longer be contained. When Yulhee revealed the news to her mother, she was met with concern and tears as her mother anxiously questioned, “How will you handle this?” Ultimately, Yulhee made the difficult decision to depart from the group in November of that same year.

In January 2018, Choi Min-hwan publicly announced their marriage, which took place in October after the birth of their first son in May, followed by Yulhee’s recovery from childbirth. Despite the obstacles, they officially embraced married life together.

Following their nuptials, Yulhee and Choi Min-hwan shared glimpses of their married life on television, expanding their family with the arrival of twin daughters in 2020, thereby becoming parents to three children. Although Yulhee harbored hopes for another child, her aspirations did not come to fruition.

This longing was ultimately overshadowed by their divorce in December of the previous year, after five years of marriage. Post-separation, Choi Min-hwan has been documenting their life with the children on KBS’s “The Return of Superman” , which has unfortunately led to intensified criticism directed at Yulhee.

Yulhee’s decision to forgo custody was influenced by financial challenges, resulting in emotional turmoil.
