It is common for sports fans to shout at their TVs when they disagree with a referee’s decision, but the College Football 25 players were not anticipating encountering this problem in a video game.
Despite the widespread appreciation for EA Sports’ successful recreation of the grandeur and customs of College Football, the sports simulation game is not without its problems. Issues with recruiting and flaws in the logic of simulations are currently causing trouble in the Dynasty game mode.
In the meantime, a glitch in Road to Dynasty enabled players to fully enhance a created character after just one practice. EA has taken steps to resolve some of these issues and has promised further improvements. However, some hiccups, such as incorrect or missing penalty calls, have caused players to become frustrated with the game.
A disgruntled player of College Football 25 expressed their frustration on Reddit claiming that the game lacks sufficient late-hit penalties for when players are hit out of bounds. Other members of the community shared similar views and highlighted additional inconsistencies.

One player responded that the number of instances where it has been 4th and 12+ and roughing the kicker has resulted in the offense retaining possession and scoring a touchdown is immeasurable.
Despite not controlling a defender on the edge during a kick, it has become a common occurrence for the CPU to rough the kicker and result in a penalty. In an attempt to counter this frustrating glitch, some players have resorted to using alternative formations, but this often leads to being unable to block a kick.
“A second commenter shared, ‘My favorite moment is when your receiver makes a break across the field and the LB/DB collides with him. You throw the ball, thinking he’ll be open, but instead it gets intercepted.’”
Similarly, other remarks confirmed that wide receivers are frequently obstructed on plays, but the referees do not call a penalty.
“According to a third player, the use of ineligible receivers downfield was causing major issues for me while playing RPOs in Road to Glory.”
One of the most frustrating situations in football is when the offensive lineman starts running up the field without being prompted, during a run, pass, or option play. This often leads to a penalty, and there is nothing the players can do to prevent it.
On July 28, Scott O’Gallagher, the creative director of College Football 25, announced that they would be addressing another major issue in the game. While EA has not disclosed the specific issue, many players are anticipating a potential fix for incorrect penalty calls.
