M80 just narrowly missed out on VCT qualification in 2023, failing to secure a spot in the Tier 1 league after losing in the Grand Finals to the now-defunct The Guard. In 2024, despite achieving a reverse sweep in the semifinals and reclaiming several intense rounds in the finals, M80 ultimately stumbled against 2GAME Esports during the final match.
Though the beloved North American organization kept the matches competitive, their inability to defeat 2G on defense proved to be their significant setback. 2GAME demonstrated remarkable offensive strength, shutting down M80 consecutively on attack in Maps 4 and 5, even though M80 had barely managed to qualify for the tournament initially.
M80 entered the competition as favorites; however, they faced disappointment again in 2024 after their 2023 struggles. Factors contributing to their performance included the final two maps, which M80 had limited experience with in competitive play, severely impacting their defensive strategies for those rounds.

While the players on 2GAME possess relatively less experience in the professional league, M80’s roster is filled with skilled talent that, on paper, is just shy of being picked up by Tier 1 teams.
With 2GAME’s victorious performance in the Grand Finals, they have successfully qualified for the VCT Americas league. This opportunity allows them to showcase their abilities against the top teams in the Americas, with aspirations of advancing to international competition.
Moreover, considering that 2GAME Esports has been competing in Valorant for less than a year, their rapid development within such a short timeframe is noteworthy.
In light of retired players like TenZ and Sacy, along with saadhak potentially moving to Europe, there are significant gaps to fill in the region when it comes to discovering the next Valorant superstar.
Given the outstanding performance of 2GAME’s MVP zap during the Valorant Ascension finals, he is a player to watch as we head into 2025.
