2NE1 – Reality Check: Only 6,000 Fans Allowed for October Concert

On July 25th, YG Entertainment announced that 2NE1 will be performing their “2024 2NE1 CONCERT [WELCOME BACK] IN SEOUL”at the Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, Seoul on October 5th and 6th.

The concert title, [WELCOME BACK], conveys the excitement of 2NE1’s reunion with their fans. It will mark their first solo concert in approximately 10 years and 6 months since “[ALL OR NOTHING] in SEOUL”in March 2014, creating great anticipation among fans.

The return of 2NE1, which marked the beginning of YG’s girl group legend, is especially remarkable. The members, known for their exceptional live performances and distinctive stage presence, demonstrated their lasting talent and popularity at the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, leaving a lasting impression on the international stage.

The anticipated collaboration with Yang Hyun-suk, YG’s executive producer, is set to bring about incredible synergy. Yang Hyun-suk has pledged his complete support for 2NE1’s return. The concert will combine YG’s vast experience in creating powerhouse concerts from their world tours with the members’ exceptional live performance skills, marking the beginning of a new era for 2NE1.

YG announced that this year marks a monumental occasion as it is 2NE1’s 15th debut anniversary. The reunion with 2NE1 has inspired us to kick off their concerts within this year. While concerts in Kobe and Tokyo are planned for late November and early December, the group’s wishes to prioritize opening the show in Korea were taken into consideration.

Booking venues, particularly those of a larger size, typically requires several months of advance planning. YG worked diligently to secure a suitable venue for this year and was fortunate to secure the Olympic Hall.

The Olympic Hall has a capacity of approximately 3,000 spectators, allowing for a total of 6,000 fans to attend the two-day event.

YG stated, “With the Seoul concert generating high expectations, we anticipate a fierce competition for tickets. While we are disappointed that we cannot accommodate all fans domestically, we promise to deliver top-notch performances and bring more exciting news in the future.”

2NE1 has announced plans to expand their global tour, which will begin with concerts in Seoul on October 5th and 6th. The tour will also include performances in Japan’s Kobe and Tokyo, with the aim of connecting with as many international fans as possible by next year.

The sale of tickets for “2024 2NE1 CONCERT [WELCOME BACK] IN SEOUL”will commence at 8 PM on August 5th through Interpark Ticket. There will be no pre-sales available, and additional information can be found on YG’s official website.
