Hazbin Hotel created obvious excitement from Prime Video viewers, but the series came to an end. If you don’t know what to watch while waiting for season 2, don’t panic: we’ve got what you need!
For some, the name of Vivienne Medrano was still unknown a few weeks ago. But since the broadcast of the Hazbin Hotel series, the work of the filmmaker and animator has been propelled to the forefront. And not without reason: the series broadcast by Prime Video and produced under the protection of the renowned studio A24 has won over its audience, for its original plot and its colorful characters.
Charlie Morningstar was emulated, as Lucifer’s daughter fought to prove to the angels that demons could turn to redemption and cease their questionable activities. Unfortunately, the first season ended in an intense finale. And if a season 2 of Hazbin Hotel has been announced, it will not be available for a year and a half, or even two years according to its author.

Light in Osville
The animated fantasy series focuses on a young girl who finds a portal to the Demon Realm and sets out on her own adventure to fulfill her dream of becoming a witch.
Luz in Osville features many similar elements to Hazbin Hotel, much to the delight of fans. Hailed for its LGBTQ+ inclusion and touching story, the story is presented as follows by Disney:
“Luz, a confident human teenager, accidentally stumbles upon a portal that leads to a new magical world where she befriends a rebellious witch, Eda, and an adorable little warrior, King. Although she does not possess magical powers, Luz pursues her dream of becoming a witch by becoming Eda’s apprentice at the Owl House and ends up finding a new family in an unlikely setting.”
Luz in Osville has three seasons in total, and is available on Disney+.
Murder Drones
Set in a futuristic Earth, in the year 3071, Murder Drones follows worker drones who are the only inhabitants of the planet. But are they really?
Hazbin Hotel made its debut on YouTube, and this is the first point in common with Murder Drones: the series of six episodes of around twenty minutes is available on the GLITCH channel.
Murder Drones takes place in a world where robots were created to help humans in the exploitation of natural resources. But a catastrophe has wiped out all life on the planet and transformed the world into a desert. Robot workers now live in fear of coming across robots tasked with exterminating them by disassembling them.
Murder Drones also includes Hazbin Hotel stars like Michael Kovach and Elsie Lovelock.
Invader ZIM
An alien named Zim travels to Earth to conquer the human race and the planet with the help of his robot servant.
According to Polygon, Invader ZIM is recommended by the creator of Hazbin Hotel for fans of her animated series. And we quickly understand why, because Invader ZIM turns out to be one of those timeless classics.
Zim comes from the planet Irk, whose inhabitants are obsessed with their desire to conquer everything and are organized according to a hierarchy based on size. In the middle of this separate ecosystem, Zim is an outcast, banished after almost destroying his world. When the planet sets out to conquer its neighbors, Zim asks to participate to prove himself.
The ZIM Invader series was released on the Nickelodeon US channel, but the ZIM film The Invader and the Florpus is available on Netflix.
The Good Place
A woman is hit and killed by a tractor-trailer, but all is well: after her death, she finds herself in an idyllic version of Paradise. However, when the Architect of the place tells her that she has arrived at the “Good Place” thanks to her good deeds, she finally understands that she has been confused with someone else.
The Good Place is not an animated series, but shares many themes with Hazbin Hotel: starting with the question of redemption, in a duality of Heaven and Hell. What if the worst beings in the world had the ability to become good again? Lying to maintain the deception, is it wrong or just human?
The Good Place is available on Netflix.
Helluva Boss
Before Hazbin Hotel, Vivienne Medrano signed another animated work: Helluva Boss. From then on, it was impossible to ignore the program in this list!
The story of Helluva Boss is set in the same universe as Hazbin Hotel, and this time focuses on a service of hired killers coming straight from Hell, to target the world of the living.
IMP (for Infamous Professional Murderers) is a hellish enterprise run by imps (demon-like creatures). We follow them in their many adventures, while they offer their services as hitmen in the human world. Main characters include leader Blitzo, weapons specialist Moxxie, powerful Millie, and receptionist Loona.
The adult series is available on YouTube , and has two seasons. In total, there are 16 Helluva Boss videos that will delight fans of creator Vivienne Medrano.
