7 Days to Die Weapons Tier List: Best Guns Ranked
Best Weapons in 7 Days to Die
While your playstyle will ultimately determine the best weapon for you, the most competitive choices are the M60 Machine Gun and the Auto Shotgun.
Tiers Explained
Our tier list categorizes weapons based on their overall combat effectiveness, utilizing a straightforward system.
- The game’s most powerful weapons.
- A: Although they can be challenging to handle in certain scenarios, these are excellent weapons.
- Mid-game choices that perform exceptionally well in specific situations.
- They are effective in the early stages of the game, but it would be advisable to replace them with more advantageous choices.
- During the initial stages of the early game, it is advisable to use weapons that are not too expensive, as they may be discarded later on. It is not recommended to use mods during this time, as they are easily replaceable.
Top-Rated Weapons
Auto-Shotgun
- Damage: 196-202
- Block Damage: 54-80
- Range: 2-4
- Rounds per Minute: 70
- Reload Time: 2.6s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 160
- Max Quality: 500
- Recipe: Shotgun Parts x1, Forged Steel x30, Duct Tape x3, Scrap Polymers x40, Spring x4
The Auto-Shotgun won over players’ hearts in the Alpha stage due to its effectiveness in handling large groups and swiftly clearing paths when unexpectedly ambushed. Its impressive firepower and ability to break through obstacles have solidified its position as a top choice, especially considering its easily obtainable ammunition.
Outfitting this gun with the Magazine Extender Mod, Fore Grip Mod, Barrel Extender Mod, and Muzzle Brake Mod is the key to optimizing its efficiency. While it is not feasible to achieve complete silence with a shotgun, attaching a Silencer Mod can reduce the firing noise at the expense of some range and damage.
M60 Machine Gun
- Damage: 70-80
- Block Damage: 6-7
- Range: 90
- Rounds per Minute: 440
- Reload Time: 3.8s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 300
- Max Quality: 650
- Recipe: Machine Gun Parts x1, Forged Steel x20, Duct Tape x3, Scrap Polymers x10, Spring x4
During the endgame, the M60 proved to be a reliable weapon for all encounters. While its rapid fire rate may result in some wasted ammo, its strength was sufficient for taking down Normal zombies with headshots and Radiated ones with just a body shot and a headshot.
Unfortunately, the majority of the Machine Gun perks heavily rely on headshots, making it necessary to have perfect aim when playing on higher difficulty levels. However, when playing on PC, I found that I was able to achieve more accurate shots, but mastering this weapon on console can be challenging.
In order to fully optimize its stats, I utilized the Retractking Stock Mod to enhance its handling while firing from the hip, added the Magazine Extender Mod, incorporated the Fore Grip Mod for improved handling and accuracy while on the move, and attached the Bipod Mod to increase accuracy when aiming.
.44 Desert Vulture
- Damage: 90-97
- Block Damage: 12-14
- Range: 50
- Rounds per Minute: 130
- Reload Time: 2s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 250
- Max Quality: 400
- Recipe: Handgun Parts x1, Forged Steel x20, Duct Tape x3, Scrap Polymers x20, Spring x6
Inspired by the Desert Eagle, this. 44 semi-automatic is the ultimate handgun that should be included in your inventory. Despite being outmatched in fire rate by weapons like the M60 and Auto Shotgun, its penetrating power makes it a crucial tool for surviving any close or moderate range encounters.
By upgrading your Magnum Enforcer perks, you will gain increased penetration for your shots. This will enable the D.V. to pierce through one enemy and inflict full damage on a second.
By utilizing the Silencer Mod, Barrel Extender, Cripple Em, and The Hunter Mod, the. 44 Desert Vulture becomes a quieter weapon with the capability for one-shot headshot kills, without the need for excessive ammunition usage.
Pipe Bomb
- Damage: 253
- Block Damage: 4
- Range: 4
- Recipe: Plant Fiber x1, Gun Powder x12, Short Iron Pipe x1
Despite the impressive selection of throwable explosives in 7 Days to Die, Pipe Bombs stand out as the top choice. They are not only the most affordable option to craft, but also boast a blast radius of 4, making them a reliable escape tool in the event of being surrounded by a horde of zombies.
If you have the ability to choose when to ignite its fuse, Pipe Bombs can be highly effective for strategically placing them in specific locations and activating them at your preferred time.
Contact Grenade
- Damage: 341
- Block Damage: 10
- Range: 4
- Recipe: Mechanical Parts x2, Gun Powder x14, Forged Iron x4, Spring x1
If you’re not skilled in calculating the detonation time of your thrown explosive, the Contact Grenade is the ideal choice to carry. Its immediate detonation is highly effective if you have confidence in your aim.
In order to prevent getting caught within the blast radius, it is recommended to use these throwables in an open environment where there is ample space available.
Molotov
- Damage: 250
- Block Damage: 5
- Range: 3
- Recipe: Cloth Fragment x2, Gas Can x300, Oil x1
Molotovs are a popular substitute for Pipe Bombs in 7 Days to Die, as they are simple to make and can be obtained regularly as quest rewards.
Their significant blast radius and AoE damage make them highly effective against zombies, capable of burning anything within range for more than 10 seconds.
A-Tier Weapons
Rocket Launcher
- Damage: 420-700
- Block Damage:10-2500
- Range: 100
- Rounds per Minute: 75
- Reload Time: 2.7s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 80
- Max Quality: 150
- Recipe: Rocket Launcher Parts x1, Forged Steel x20, Duct Tape x3, Electrical Parts x5, Spring x3
While I don’t typically prefer to carry the Rocket Launcher at all times, it becomes necessary when preparing for a high-intensity Blood Moon. If I want to cause significant destruction, I can use it with Rocket HE ammo (Block Damage: 2500) to easily eliminate both zombies and buildings.
Nevertheless, if I have invested a significant amount of time reinforcing a base, I opt to continue using the Rocket Frag in order to minimize Block Damage to 10. This allows me to concentrate its destructive capabilities entirely on infected creatures, particularly Demolishers.
There may not be a wide range of mods available to significantly enhance the Rocket Launcher’s abilities, but you can utilize the Barrel Extender Mod (which boosts damage, range, and accuracy), the Cripple ‘Em Mod (which increases the likelihood of dismemberment), and the Rad Remover Mod (which temporarily disables the regeneration ability of Radiated zombies).
SMG-5
- Damage: 50-56
- Block Damage: 6-8
- Range: 65
- Rounds per Minute: 480
- Reload Time: 4.1s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 350
- Max Quality: 700
- Recipe: Handgun Parts x1, Forged Steel x10, Duct Tape x3, Scrap Polymers x10, Spring x3
The SMG-5 is typically my preferred choice when my ammunition is running low and I need to make a speedy escape. Its affordable ammunition and high RPM make it an ideal weapon for taking out Normal zombies and even fending off Specials to buy some time.
During Early Access, this submachine gun gained immense popularity due to its unusually quiet operation and increased firepower. However, after being nerfed, it is no longer able to effectively compete against stronger alternatives.
Despite this, I was able to optimize my experience by increasing my Agility and fully utilizing the Gunslinger perk. As for modifications, I attached both the Muzzle Brake Mod and Fore Grip Mod to my SMG-5 in order to minimize recoil and enhance its maneuverability while firing on the go.
Additionally, I equipped the Magazine Extender Mod and Rad Remover Mod in order to temporarily disable Radiated zombies’ regeneration ability. For those utilizing a stealth build, it is advisable to upgrade the Hidden Strike perk and obtain the Silencer Mod as well.
Grenade
- Damage: 341
- Block Damage: 10
- Range: 5
- Recipe: Mechanical Parts x1, Gun Powder x14, Forged Iron x4, Spring x1
The Grenade is my go-to throwable for daytime use due to its three-second timer, which allows me to select a group of zombies in the vicinity and distribute the damage more effectively than with the Contact Grenade.
Carrying a few regular Grenades is often recommended in case of a sudden need for a quick getaway. The Demolition Perk can increase its damage, and utilizing AtomJunkie candy can also provide a temporary boost.
Steel Sledgehammer
- Damage: 55.0
- Block Damage: 85
- Range: 2.6
- Attacks per Minute: 34
- Stamina Usage: 40.5
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 207
- Max Quality: 581
- Recipe: Steel Sledgehammer Parts x1, Forged Steel x10, Wood x10, Leather x3, Duct Tape x3
The Steel Sledgehammer is an excellent heavy weapon that surpasses most melee choices due to its capability to strike and eliminate multiple targets without making noise. If you pay attention to your Stamina usage, using this variation of the Sledgehammer can greatly benefit you in the mid-game section.
Remember that while Sledgehammers are known for their slow speed, their powerful base damage allows for more one-shot kills. By equipping the Ergonomic Grip Mod, you can enhance its stats and reduce stamina consumption. Additionally, the Rad Remover Mod can disable the regeneration of Radiated zombies, and the Weighted Head Mod can increase your chances of stunning and slowing down infected enemies.
Iron Sledgehammer
- Damage: 32.2
- Block Damage: 58.3
- Range: 2.6
- Attacks per Minute: 34
- Stamina Usage: 36.7
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 133
- Max Quality: 363
- Recipe: Forged Iron x30, Wood x10, Leather x2, Duct Tape x2
The Iron Sledgehammer is also a fantastic choice for a heavy melee weapon, though it may not surpass the Steel Sledgehammer. However, it has earned its place alongside its upgraded counterpart due to its inexpensive materials that can be obtained even at the start of 7 Days to Die.
Experimenting with this Sledgehammer is an excellent method to test your capabilities for a Stamina-focused build. In this type of build, you must closely monitor your stamina in exchange for delivering powerful yet sluggish strikes.
Steel Spear
- Damage: 33.3
- Block Damage: 9
- Range: 3.2
- Attacks per Minute: 55
- Stamina Usage: 22.4
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 317
- Max Quality: 592
- Recipe: Steel Spear Parts x1, Forged Steel x10, Wood x10, Leather x3, Duct Tape x3
The Steel Spear is among my top choices for a melee weapon in the game because it allows me to approach the infected and deliver powerful strikes that penetrate their armor. Despite its high Stamina consumption, precise strikes can result in critical hits.
The Ergonomic Grip Mod can be acquired to reduce the amount of Stamina used and increase its damage. Personally, I prefer to equip the Weighted Head Mod to stun and slow zombies, the Serrated Blade Mod to inflict the Bleeding Wound effect, and the Burning Shaft Mod to ignite the infected.
Sniper Rifle
- Damage: 100-110
- Block Damage: 8-10
- Range: 150
- Rounds per Minute: 150
- Reload Time: 2.7s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 250
- Max Quality: 500
- Recipe: Rifle Parts x1, Forged Steel x30, Duct Tape x10, Scrap Polymers x40, Spring x12
While Sniper Rifles may be favored by those with a Stealth build, they are essential for taking out zombies from a distance regardless of your progress in the game. Although it may not have the same level of power as the M60, the effectiveness of this weapon relies heavily on your positioning and accuracy, making it a valuable asset for navigating the toughest biomes in Navezgane.
My preferred setup for a Sniper involves adding additional range and improving reload speed. To achieve this, I typically rely on mods such as the Barrel Extender Mod and Magazine Extender Mod. In order to increase its damage and chances of crippling enemies, I also make use of the Hunter Mod, Rad Remover Mod, and Cripple Em Mod.
In order to achieve more precise results, it is advised to additionally include the Bipod Mod, Muzzle Brake Mod, and Fore Grip Mod.
AK-47
- Damage: 40-50
- Block Damage: 5-7
- Range: 90
- Rounds per Minute: 360
- Reload Time: 2.85s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 250
- Max Quality: 550
- Recipe: Machine Gun Parts x1, Forged Iron x10, Duct Tape x2, Scrap Polymers x10, Spring x2
The AK-47, a staple automatic weapon in any zombie apocalypse scenario, may not match up to the M60 in terms of power, but its high accuracy and RPM make it capable of overcoming nearly any obstacle, despite its tendency to use up ammunition quickly.
The versatility of an AK-47 lies in its ability to accommodate different playstyles through the use of appropriate modifications. In order to manage ammo usage, I installed the Trigger Group: Burst Mod, which allows for firing in 3-round bursts. Additionally, I added the Magazine Extender Mod, the Laser Sight Mod for improved accuracy while hip firing, and the Muzzle Break Mod to decrease recoil.
Pipe Machine Gun
- Damage: 30-40
- Block Damage: 5-7
- Range: 90
- Rounds per Minute: 335
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 100
- Max Quality: 350
- Recipe: Short Iron Pipe x4, Glue x2, Wood x6
The Pipe Machine Gun is incredibly powerful considering the materials needed to make it. With a high rate of fire and impressive damage, it can take down multiple zombies with just one magazine. Although it may deteriorate more quickly than other weapons, it is simple to fix and maintain.
To enhance its handling and accuracy, the Retracting Stock Mod, Fore Grip Mod, and Bipod Mod can be utilized. While equipping all of these mods simultaneously on the same Pipe Machine Gun may not be necessary, the Cripple Em Mod, The Hunter Mod, and Rad Remover Mod can also increase its damage.
Tactical Assault Rifle
- Damage: 53-58
- Block Damage: 6-8
- Range: 90
- Rounds per Minute: 405
- Reload Time: 3.8s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 225
- Max Quality: 500
- Recipe: Machine Gun Parts x1, Forged Steel x10, Duct Tape x3, Scrap Polymers x5, Spring x3
The Tactical Assault Rifle is a formidable competitor to both the AK-47 and the M60, despite its tendency to use up ammunition quickly. Its slower reload time may put it at a disadvantage compared to the AK, but it compensates with slightly higher damage and RPM.
My preference lies with the TAR due to its superior mobility compared to the M60 and lower recoil than the AK-47. I enhance its effectiveness against infected by equipping the Rad Remover Mod, The Hunter Mod, and Cripple Em Mod, as well as utilizing the Trigger Group: Burst Mod to improve ammo management.
Additionally, you have the option to equip the Fore Grip Mod for improved accuracy when shooting from the hip, as well as the Laser Sight Mod.
Compound-Crossbow
- Damage: 75-275
- Block Damage: 1-6
- Range: 100
- Rounds per Minute: 75
- Reload Time: 3.4s
- Durability:
- Min Quality:120
- Max Quality: 250
- Recipe: Bow/Crossbow Parts x1, Forged Steel x15, Duct Tape x3, Leather x3, Scrap Polymers x20
The Compound Crossbow and Compound Bow are both perfect options for a stealthy playstyle. Personally, I favor the Bow due to its quicker Reload Time and higher Durability, but both weapons offer a fantastic stealth multiplier. Furthermore, attaching a scope to the Crossbow allows for one-shot kills when striking an unsuspecting target.
While these types may not be useful against Special Infected or Blood Moon hordes, they are not recommended for close combat due to their slow Reload Time. Nevertheless, you can increase their power by leveling up your Archery Perk in the Agility Attribute skill tree.
In order to improve your aim, you can equip mods such as Scope 4x or Scope 2x to obtain an S-Tier Crossbow. Additionally, using mods like the Polymer String Mod will increase the speed of your bolts, while mods like Rad Remover, Hunter, and Cripple Em will provide a damage boost.
Compound Bow
- Damage: 64-209
- Block Damage: 1-6
- Range: 100
- Rounds per Minute: 75
- Reload Time: 2s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 200
- Max Quality: 400
- Recipe: Bow/Crossbow Parts x1, Scrap Polymers x25, Leather x5, Duct Tape x5, Spring x10
The Compound Bow is both faster and more versatile than the Crossbow in any moment of 7DtD gameplay. It is also one of the most effective long-ranged weapons, particularly when used with Explosive Arrows, as it becomes incredibly destructive.
If you prefer a stealth-focused playstyle, this Bow has the ability to take down most zombies with a single shot, thanks to its multiplier. However, its slow Reload Time makes it less competitive compared to other top-tier choices.
To enhance the capabilities of your Compound Bow, consider equipping the Arrow Rest Mod to enhance accuracy, the Ergonomic Grip Mod to reduce melee stamina consumption and improve weapon handling. Additionally, you may want to add the Cripple Em Mod for a chance to immobilize a leg on bipedal targets, the Hunter Mod to deal increased damage to all animals, and the Rad Remover Mod to temporarily prevent Radiated zombies from regenerating.
Stun Baton
- Damage: 200.2
- Block Damage: 6
- Range: 2.4
- Attacks per Minute: 70
- Stamina Usage: 15.5
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 269
- Max Quality: 673
- Recipe: Baton Partx x1, Forged Iron x5, Leather x2, Duct Tape x2, Electrical Parts x2
The Stun Baton elicits mixed opinions, as it requires skill to achieve maximum damage. Personally, I found it more effective to use at close range rather than knives, as it allowed me to shock and stun nearby creatures. This was especially useful when conserving ammo and needing to buy time to escape when faced with a swarm.
By leveling up your Intellect Attribute and acquiring the Nerd Tats candies from vending machines, you can inflict a significant amount of damage through the Electrocutioner perk. These candies allow you to shock all zombies within a 1.2 m radius for a duration of 5 minutes.
If the Stun Baton is your preferred weapon, prioritize obtaining the Stun Baton Repulsor Mod to enhance its shock capabilities and cause a ragdoll effect. Additionally, the Ergonomic Grip can be utilized to reduce Stamina Usage, which is already relatively low considering the weapon’s high damage output.

B-Tier weapons
Iron Crossbow
- Damage: 50-250
- Block Damage: 1-6
- Range: 100
- Rounds per Minute: 75
- Reload Time: 3.4s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 100
- Max Quality: 200
- Recipe: Bow/Crossbow Parts x1, Forged Iron x15, Duct Tape x3, Leather x3, Wood x20
The Iron Crossbow was the initial weapon I tested my skills with, and it exceeded my expectations. Boasting similar perks to the more powerful Compound Crossbow, it is undoubtedly one of the top stealth weapons available.
This Crossbow is ranked lower solely because its Compound version has better durability and stats, but comparable outcomes can be achieved with modifications.
Steel Club
- Damage: 26.3
- Block Damage: 22.10
- Range: 2.4
- Attacks per Minute: 52
- Stamina Usage: 23.7
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 300
- Max Quality: 700
- Recipe: Steel Club Parts x1, Forged Steel x10, Wood x10, Leather x3, Duct Tape x3
For those who enjoy using close-combat weapons and are comfortable confronting zombies head-on, the Steel Club could be a suitable choice. Its ability to push back and stun enemies provides better maneuverability when facing a large group, especially in later stages of the game.
Despite its slower attack speed, higher stamina usage, and limited range, the weapon still remains in B-Tier as it is outperformed by other options in endgame scenarios.
Machete
- Damage: 20.1
- Block Damage: 21
- Range: 2.3
- Attacks per Minute: 55
- Stamina Usage: 19.2
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 288
- Max Quality: 673
- Recipe: Machete Parts x1, Forged Steel x10, Wood x10, Leather x3, Duct Tape x3
The Machete used to have a reputation as one of the weakest melee weapons in the meta due to its high Stamina Usage outweighing its damage output. However, in version 1.0, this issue was resolved and it has now emerged as a top choice for “knives,”with its quiet and efficient dismemberment of zombies.
Mods such as the Serrated Blade Mod (which increases the chance of causing a Bleeding Wound), the Burning Shaft Mod (which sets enemies on fire), and the Ergonomic Grip Mod (which reduces stamina usage) make this weapon an ideal choice for players who have invested in the Deep Cuts and Knife Guy perks within the Agility Attribute.
.44 Magnum
- Damage: 65-72
- Block Damage: 12-14
- Range: 70
- Rounds per Minute: 100
- Reload Time: 4s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 150
- Max Quality: 300
- Recipe: Handgun Parts x1, Forged Steel x10, Duct Tape x3, Scrap Polymers x10, Spring x5
The 44. Magnum is a reliable choice to have in a situation where you are surrounded by zombies. Although it has a high damage output at close range, its slow Reload Time causes it to rank lower at B-Tier, even with equipped Mods.
Baseball Bat
- Damage: 20
- Block Damage: 18.2
- Range: 2.4
- Attacks per Minute: 52
- Stamina Usage: 20.9
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 200
- Max Quality: 500
- Recipe: Forged Iron x20, Wood x10, Leather x1, Duct Tape x1
The Baseball bat is the preferred weapon in the early stages of the game due to its wide swing arc, allowing for multiple zombie hits at once. Despite its low Damage output, it enables players to sneak around targets for strategic blows and has a knockback effect that can take down zombies.
Double Barrel Shotgun
- Damage: 106-112
- Block Damage: 54-80
- Range: 4-9
- Rounds per Minute: 46
- Reload Time: 2.6s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 150
- Max Quality: 300
- Recipe: Shotgun Parts x1, Forged Iron x10, Duct Tape x2, Scrap Polymers x10, Spring x2
The Double Barrel Shotgun is a highly effective firearm for close-range combat due to its exceptional burst damage. Its high RPM and damage make it a formidable choice in the early stages of the game, allowing for quick and efficient elimination of zombies.
Despite its low DPS, limited range, and limited selection of mods, it cannot keep up with other options in the later stages of the game.
Lever-Action Rifle
- Damage: 76-81
- Block Damage: 7-9
- Range: 150
- Rounds per Minute: 82
- Reload Time: 2.7s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 200
- Max Quality: 400
- Recipe: Rifle Parts x1, Forged Steel x15, Duct Tape x10, Scrap Polyers x20, Spring x10
Despite not being the most powerful choice, the Lever-Action Rifle is a valuable weapon for conserving ammo. Its Damage and RPM are respectable, but its standout feature is its accuracy, making it ideal for long-range combat.
C-Tier weapons
Pump Shotgun
- Damage: 146-152
- Block Damage: 54-80
- Range: 2-10
- Rounds per Minute: 60
- Reload Time: 2.6s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 160
- Max Quality: 350
- Recipe: Shotgun Parts x1, Forged Steel x15, Duct Tape x3, Scrap Polymers x20, Spring x3
The Pump Shotgun may not be the most powerful shotgun in 7 Days to Die, but it serves as a solid early-game option and can be helpful during your initial Blood Moons. Its limited ammunition capacity makes it somewhat less dependable in certain scenarios, so it is advisable to use it cautiously if venturing into POIs alone.
Pistol
- Damage: 37-40
- Block Damage: 6-7
- Range: 50
- Rounds per Minute: 180
- Reload Time: 2s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 250
- Max Quality: 450
- Recipe: Handgun Parts x1, Forged Iron x10, Duct Tape x2, Scrap Polymers x5, Spring x2
The Pistol is effective against most Normal zombies and, due to its commonly found ammunition, there is no need to concern yourself with wasting it.
This weapon has a decent rate of fire for mid-game situations. While it is not suitable for medium or long-range combat, attaching the Silencer Mod can decrease its sound and range.
Wooden Club
- Damage: 12
- Block Damage: 11.6
- Range: 2.4
- Attacks per Minute: 55
- Stamina Usage: 17.4
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 60
- Max Quality: 110
- Recipe: Wood x5
The Wooden Club is a simple weapon that can be crafted early on in 7 Days to Die. It was one of the first weapons I obtained that offered more reach in close combat, but I did notice that its Stamina Usage was more taxing compared to alternatives such as the Baseball Bat.
Stick of Dynamite
- Damage: 500
- Block Damage: 3000
- Range: 6
- Recipe: Plant Fibers x1, Gun Powder x20, Duct Tape x2, Paper x10
The Stick of Dynamite is a useful option for escaping an angry mob in an enclosed area as a last resort. It also serves as a valuable tool for constructing underground bases. Despite functioning similarly to other explosives, its four-second fuse and explosive radius classify it as a C-Tier weapon.
Hunting Knife
- Damage: 12
- Block Damage: 5.3
- Attacks per Minute: 120
- Stamina Usage: 8.2
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 462
- Max Quality: 1154
- Recipe: Forged Iron x8, Woodx4, Leather x2, Duct Tape x2
If you enjoyed utilizing the Bone Knife in the early stages of the game, prioritize obtaining the Hunting Knife. Not only does it serve as both a useful tool and weapon, but it also proves to be effective in close-range fights. With its minimal Stamina Consumption, you can continuously attack and efficiently gather resources from animals.
D-Tier weapons
Bone Knife
- Damage: 5.1
- Block Damage: 2.5
- Range: 2
- Attacks per Minute: 120
- Stamina Usage: 7.3
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 120
- Max Quality: 220
- Recipe: Bone x5
Similar to other weapons in the D-Tier, the Bone Knife is an improvement over having no weapon at all. After using Pointed Sticks for the initial few hours of the game, creating this tool is definitely a step towards more efficient animal harvesting.
In addition, I experimented with the Bone Knife in the initial days to test its compatibility with my preferred style of play in 7 Days to Die. Unfortunately, its limited range and lack of skill points made it extremely challenging to inflict significant damage, resulting in this item feeling more like a utility than a formidable weapon.
Primitive Bow
- Damage: 30-175
- Block Damage: 1-6
- Range: 100
- Rounds per Minute: 75
- Reload Time: 2s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 60
- Max Quality: 150
- Recipe: Plant Fiber x3, Wood x8
The Primitive Bow can be crafted using minimal resources and is a game-changer once obtained. Although not effective at close range, bows are essential for those looking to build a stealthy character.
Practicing with this bow will help you become familiar with the drop in trajectory commonly associated with this type of weapon, eventually motivating you to upgrade it for improved precision.
Wooden Bow
- Damage: 44-189
- Block Damage: 1-6
- Range: 100
- Rounds per Minute: 75
- Reload Time: 2s
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 180
- Max Quality: 350
- Recipe: Bow/Crossbow Parts x1, Wood x20, Leather x20, Leather x3, Glue x2, Duct Tape x3
The Wooden Bow is the ideal choice for the early stages of the game, particularly if you were a fan of the capabilities of the Primitive Bow. Even though it doesn’t take much time to gather the necessary materials for a Compound Bow, the Wooden Bow can serve as a transitional weapon during the initial days.
Stone Axe
- Damage: 6
- Block Damage: 21.5
- Range: 2.4
- Attacks per Minute: 105
- Stamina Usage: 8
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 112
- Max Quality: 300
- Recipe: Small Stone x2, Plant Fibers x2, Wood x2
The initial tool and weapon to create in 7 Days to Die is the Stone Axe. It is essential for early farming and harvesting tasks, providing a simple and efficient means to do so.
Iron Spear
- Damage: 20.2
- Block Damage: 7
- Range: 3.2
- Attacks per Minute: 55
- Stamina Usage: 20.3
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 212
- Max Quality: 423
- Recipe: Forged Iron x16, Wood x10, Leather x2, Duct Tape x2
Obtaining the Iron Spear was a pivotal moment for me when I first began playing. Although basic in design, it enabled me to confront zombies at close range without being overly concerned about their reach. While it may require some adjustment to its Stamina Usage, this initial Spear is highly effective during the early stages of the game.
My recommendation would be to avoid using the Stone Spear, if possible, due to its insufficient Damage output compared to its high Stamina Usage. Instead, consider switching to the Iron Spear.
If you wish to modify it prior to upgrading to the Steel Spear, you can acquire the Tempered Blade Mod to reduce its wear and tear, the Ergonomic Grip Mod to decrease stamina consumption, and the Hunter Mod to enhance damage against all types of animals.
Pipe Pistol
- Damage: 28-34
- Block Damage: 3.9-4.9
- Range: 40
- Rounds per Minute: 126
- Durability:
- Min Quality: 70
- Max Quality: 135
