Surprising many, 7-Eleven has announced a partnership with Tetris to create a one-of-a-kind custom gaming handheld, despite the fact that both are well-known brand icons.
7-Eleven is a well-known convenience store chain in America, and numerous individuals have pleasant recollections of savoring their famous Slurpee beverage during their youth. A recent collaboration between 7-Eleven and The Tetris Company now offers customers the opportunity to relive their nostalgia with a handheld Tetris game designed in the shape of a Slurpee cup.
The unique handheld device includes a 1.8-inch full-color screen embedded into the flattened front of a design resembling a Slurpee cup. Additionally, the handheld is equipped with two face buttons and a D-Pad that closely resemble those found on the original Game Boy.
In addition to this unique branding partnership, there are other examples of similar collaborations. As stated in a press release (via VGC), 7-Eleven Canada is also offering customers the opportunity to purchase t-shirts, hats, and other apparel featuring both Tetris and 7-Eleven branding.
Currently, the only confirmed locations offering these items for sale are in the USA. Japan, which is home to several 7-Eleven stores, has not yet confirmed if the line will be available in that region.
The Slurpee Tetris handheld device is expected to have a price of $30 and is currently labeled as ‘Coming soon’ on the official store website. The purchase does not include 3 AAA batteries or a USB-C power cable, both of which are required for operation.
Despite the price of the handheld device, it is not likely to become a replacement for the Steam Deck or Miyoo Mini in the near future. However, with the skills of modders, it is possible for them to enhance the capabilities of the Slurpee-shaped shell and create a more powerful device.
