9 Ways Megumi Fushiguro Can Enhance the Ten Shadows Technique Post-Jujutsu Kaisen

Jujutsu Kaisen is set to conclude its narrative in late September 2024. Among the standout characters is Megumi Fushiguro, who has navigated much of the story as a puppet under Sukuna’s complete possession.

Despite Megumi’s significant loss of technique functionality in the final chapters, the intriguing aspects related to shadows and their transformations provide ample opportunity to explore how Megumi can refine the now-impaired Ten Shadows technique.

Storage, Attack Absorption, and 7 additional ways Megumi Fushiguro could enhance the Ten Shadows technique after the conclusion of Jujutsu Kaisen

1) Portable Storage

Megumi’s Ten Shadows technique has revealed functionalities beyond merely summoning shikigami. The technique grants him significant command over shadows, allowing him to traverse into other shadows and manipulate those nearby.

This was notably demonstrated when Megumi utilized his shadow for storing cursed tools and even concealed himself within another individual’s shadow during the assault on Hakari’s hideout. This capability could allow Megumi to hide allies and transport them discreetly during infiltration missions or other covert operations.

2) Attack Absorption

The dimensional pocket aspect of the Ten Shadows technique stands out as one of its most adaptable features, primarily limited by the user’s creativity. Despite the loss of most of his shikigami during the climactic confrontation involving Meguna, strategic utilization of the Ten Shadows could render him nearly invincible by absorbing hostile attacks into his shadows.

While it’s crucial to have shadows available for this technique, Megumi will always have access to his own shadow, and even his clothing will generate a shadow that he can exploit.

3) Terrain Manipulation: Puddle Creation

Leveraging the pocket dimension aspect of his shadows, Megumi could create puddles or irregular ground, utilizing this to gain combat advantages. With Sukuna and Gojo out of the picture, the present threats in Jujutsu Kaisen comprise rogue sorcerers and government entities. In duels against foes, Megumi could exploit terrain advantages while overpowering his enemies in physical skirmishes.

4) Diverse Weapon Arsenal

Utilizing his shadow’s pocket dimension, Megumi could store an extensive array of weapons or cursed tools, essentially carrying a full arsenal within his shadow. Given earlier instances where he managed to store entire trucks and pieces of building debris, it’s likely that his storage capacity has expanded following his experience as Sukuna’s vessel.

5) Remote Deployment of Shikigami

The shadows create the foundation for shikigami summoning. While the fates of Megumi’s shikigami remain uncertain, there’s potential that less powerful entities like the Twin Dogs or various toads may survive. To optimize his fragmented technique, Megumi could potentially summon shikigami directly adjacent to adversaries rather than relying on the standard method of having them materialize next to him, enhancing his strategic options post-Sukuna’s encounters in Jujutsu Kaisen’s finale.

6) Well’s Unknown Abyss

Well’s Unknown Abyss was introduced in the series’ earlier chapters, shedding light on the Totality aspect of the Ten Shadows technique, which merges the capabilities of deceased shikigami with those remaining. Gege Akutami has clarified that the combinations generated by Well’s Unknown Abyss may be more fragile than their predecessors but aren’t entirely eliminated upon defeat.

Megumi could capitalize on this functionality to maintain his remaining shikigami. Should the Twin Dogs and Rabbits be all that’s left, he could fuse them to generate a continuous stream of delicate yet relentless hunting rabbits, overwhelming his adversaries.

7) Innovative Techniques with Max Elephant

Max Elephant represented one of Megumi’s most powerful shikigami before Mahoraga made an appearance. Megumi’s limited cursed energy and inexperience hindered him from maximizing Max Elephant’s potential.

As partial manifestation and size adjustment of shikigami were shown capable during Sukuna’s confrontations with Tsumiki and Gojo, Megumi could replicate these strategies to create a smaller version of Max Elephant while boosting its water pressure, thereby resembling a technique akin to Piercing Blood.

8) Pit Traps

Megumi could also consider merging the aspects of storage and partial manifestation to establish pit traps with Twin Dogs or other shikigami lurking inside for ambushes. This approach would also assist him in preserving the remaining shikigami following the Jujutsu Kaisen saga.

9) Poison Traps within His Shadow

With the majority of Megumi’s shikigami destroyed during the battle against Sukuna, his technique has become nearly inoperative. If none of his shikigami remain intact, Megumi might store chlorine or other toxic gases in his pocket dimension, alongside a gas mask for himself, as an ultimate recourse.

As most of his opponents in the aftermath of Jujutsu Kaisen are likely to be humans rather than curses, storing toxic gas could prove particularly advantageous against them.

Final Thoughts

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 271 is scheduled for release on September 29, 2024, marking the conclusion of the series. While a continuation for the manga has yet to be announced, the anime is still in production, with Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 anticipated for release in 2025. It’s plausible that additional details regarding a second part will be unveiled alongside the upcoming season.
