90 Day Fiancé Southern Fans React to Viral Happily Ever After Grits Scene

Sophie Sierra and her mother Claire received backlash from fans from the South after trying grits for the first time on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After.

Sophie Sierra and her husband Rob Warne are currently featured on the eighth season of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, and are adjusting to their new life in the US following their appearance on the tenth season of 90 Day Fiancé.

Sophie has traveled to Austin, Texas to spend some quality time with her mother, Claire, and escape from her husband for a bit. During the June 16th episode, they dined at a restaurant and decided to try grits, a popular dish in the Southern region of the United States.

Sophie’s mom inquired about the dish, but mistakenly pronounced it as ‘grit.’ The waitress then clarified that it was actually made with eggs and sugar.

Sophie called the dish “weird”and both she and Claire were still confused when it was served to them. In her confessional, Sophie even described it as “jail food”because she didn’t enjoy it.

The behavior of Sophie and Claire in the scene sparked a reaction from 90 Day Fiancé fans on Reddit, who were offended by it.

“The original poster expressed their disappointment as a native southerner, stating that it was disrespectful to mix grits with eggs and sugar. They also added that the LA version of grits was probably the strangest thing the person had ever tasted.”

Another fan pointed out that the recipe for grits did not mention eggs and clarified that the original poster was located in Austin, Texas, rather than Los Angeles, California.

Another individual speculated whether the waitress desired to make an appearance on the show due to her lack of knowledge about the ingredients of grits. She confidently claimed that they contained eggs and sugar, which turned out to be incorrect.

The 90 Day Fiancé franchise is known for its numerous controversial moments, and this one is just another addition to the already extensive list.

Despite Big Ed Brown’s offensive comments about his ex Liz Woods, Angela Deem still accused her estranged husband Michael Ilesanmi of being financially unstable upon arriving in the US.

If Sophie and her mom Claire become aware of the negative response they received for trying grits, they may be more conscious of their actions if they were to appear on the show again.
