Fans were shocked to see John McManus, brother of Patrick Mendes, playing the role of the voice of reason in regards to their father Jose on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After.
Upon his reunion with his father Jose in Brazil on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After Season 8, Patrick Mendes kindly suggested hosting his granddaughter Aleesi’s birthday celebration at his home.
When Patrick arrived at the house with his wife Thaís Ramone and half-brother John McManus, Jose persuaded him to have the backyard maintained and requested payment from him.
During his confessional, John threw shade at Patrick’s father for using him and mentioned how he had a feeling things would turn out this way. He stated, “I don’t want to say I’m psychic, but I called it. It was like a ‘Hello, good to see you,’ and then within ten minutes, it was like, ‘Yeah, you know what, I gotta fix this.’”

The reaction of John to the requests from Patrick’s dad surprised fans of 90 Day Fiancé on X. They took to the platform to share their opinions on the matter.
“I completely agree with John’s previous statement. It seems like Dad is determined to extract every ounce of effort from Patrick,”one fan commented.
It was surprising to the other user that John and Thaís were in agreement that his dad is a user, as they typically have a difficult relationship.
A third observer expressed joy that John was present to support his brother and expressed their perspective that Patrick’s actions seemed desperate for their father’s attention. They offered the advice to avoid mixing family and finances and to consider hosting the event at a different location.
During his childhood, Patrick’s father was not present very often. As a result, he was eagerly looking forward to reuniting with him in Brazil and having him join in on his daughter’s birthday celebration.
Similarly, John was looking out for his brother and attempting to caution him about their father, much like Patrick did while in a relationship with his fiancée Megan.
He wants to convey to Jose that exploiting his son for financial gain based on his US citizenship is unacceptable, even if it is for his granddaughter’s celebratory event.
