My Hero Academia Chapter 430: A Look Ahead
Chapter 430, named ‘My Hero Academia’, continues the story 8 years later from the events of Chapter 429. The opening line of the chapter remains the same as the series’ beginning: “People are not born equal…”
As an adult, Deku spends his days at work, reflecting on the lessons he learned at 17. He has since become a teacher at U.A., and it is eventually revealed that he no longer possesses One For All, the embers of the powerful quirk having faded long ago.
In Chapter 430 of My Hero Academia, the remaining students of Class 1-A are featured, with many of them having achieved the status of Pro Heroes. While Bakugo and Shoto both rank highly among the heroes, Bakugo’s reputation is suffering due to his volatile temperament, while Shoto continues to excel.
Although it is implied that Mirio is currently the top-ranked Pro Hero, there is no confirmation and he does not make an appearance in the chapter. Ochako, Iida, Tsuyu, and Momo have formed a group as Pro Heroes, while Shoji is receiving recognition for his work towards promoting equality for heteromorphs. Deku remains the only member of the class who has not yet become a Pro Hero.
In My Hero Academia Chapter 430, the story also revolves around Dai, a teenager determined to become a hero despite having a non-offensive Quirk. Despite facing ridicule from his classmates for his ambitions, Dai joins Deku at All Might’s statue where they both leap into action to rescue a child.
Dai shares with Deku his desire to become a hero like him, but feels limited by his Quirk. Deku realizes his own purpose: even though he may not be able to become a hero, he can still motivate and inspire others, just as All Might did for him. Deku echoes his idol’s words, telling Dai, “You have the potential to become a hero.”
As the scene shifts, Deku is shown meeting All Might. The elderly man has brought a plethora of costly support gear, designed by his American acquaintance and Mei Hatsume. He discloses that all of the Class 1-A students, particularly Bakugo, contributed to the funding of this gear. Bakugo then extends his hand to Deku, encouraging him to join them.
In the final panel, we witness Deku achieving his dream of becoming a Pro Hero with the help of his support gear. He is also reunited with his friends, marking the end of the series in My Hero Academia Chapter 430.
