Ted Lasso Season 4 in the Works with Three Major Cast Members Already Confirmed – But There’s a Catch

Following Ted’s instructions, there is now widespread belief that Ted Lasso Season 4 is in the works, with three major cast members confirmed to be returning to the field.

Since its debut on Apple TV+ in 2020, Ted Lasso has gained a reputation as one of the most uplifting TV shows. Following the uplifting journey of a relentlessly optimistic American football coach who becomes the manager of a struggling British soccer team, the show has won over audiences of both sports enthusiasts and comedy fans.

Four years and 61 Emmy Award nominations later, this streaming service gem has become one of the most beloved comedy shows of the 2020s. While many thought that its third season would be its last, the unexpected return of Ted to America in March 2023 left very few expecting more.

According to Deadline, the creators of Ted Lasso are currently in the process of developing Season 4 and are working to secure more of the original cast members, in addition to the three already confirmed. The report also states that casting is currently underway and a writers room is being assembled.

The report confirms that Warner Bros. Television has exercised their options on Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, who portray Rebecca Walton, Roy Kent, and Leslie Higgins, respectively.

The studio is also anticipated to contact cast members who have SAG-AFTRA contracts, such as co-creators and executive producers Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, known as Ted Lasso and Coach Beard. This is reported to extend to Juno Temple, who portrays Keeley Jones.

Phil Dunster, who portrayed Jamie Tart in the first three seasons, is the only cast member with a question mark surrounding their name. This is because of his current roles in Prime Video’s The Devil’s Hour and Apple’s Surface.

While the progress made in confirming the cast and organizing a writers room is certainly promising, it is just one step towards the ultimate goal of getting the new season greenlit. There is still much more work to be done before fans can get too excited about the possibility of seeing Ted and his friends back on their screens.

According to Deadline, plans are in place for Season 4 to begin production in early 2025.
