At a recent event, UNIS, a popular girl group, delivered a lively performance including a cover of TWICE’s hit song “What Is Love?”However, towards the end of their set, an unfortunate incident took place. One of the members, Kotoko, who was born in 2007, suddenly fainted on stage. The rest of the group paused their performance and rushed to check on her. As a precaution, the stage lights were dimmed and Kotoko was taken backstage to rest.

After UNIS’s performance video went viral on social media, netizens began to express their concern for Kotoko’s well-being. In response, the young idol took to social media to address her fans and assure them of her improving health. She introduced herself as Kotoko and acknowledged the worry she may have caused. However, she reassured everyone that she is on the path to recovery with some much-needed rest. Grateful for the love and support from her fans, she promised to take better care of herself to avoid any further concern.
Kotoko was born in 2007 and joined the girl group UNIS in January of this year. The group was created through the survival program Universe Ticket and includes members Jin Hyeon Ju, Gehlee Dangca, Bang Yunha, Elisia, Oh Yoona, Nana, and Lim Seowon. UNIS made their official debut on March 27th.
When the group’s lineup was announced, UNIS surprised many with the disclosure of their members’ ages. The youngest member, Lim Seowon, was born in 2011, which means she is currently 13 years old. Furthermore, UNIS consists of three members born in 2009 (15 years old), three members born in 2007 (17 years old), and one member born in 2001 (who is 23 years old this year).
Despite the concerns and criticism surrounding the management company’s decision to debut UNIS at such a young age, the girls’ appearance on stage has caused even more alarm. Netizens have been questioning the group’s debut and the pressure put on them to work excessively, especially since they should still be focusing on their education. Kotoko’s extreme thinness and fainting on stage only add to the controversy.
