A 29-Year-Old Singer’s Determination to Become an Idol on Their Sixth Attempt

It is not uncommon for idols in K-pop to debut multiple times. Two examples that come to mind are Taeyeon, who first debuted with SNSD and then went on to join various projects such as TaeTiSeo, Oh! GG, Got the Beat, and also pursued a solo career. Similarly, HyunA debuted with Wonder Girls and later became part of 4Minute, Trouble Maker, Triple H, and HyunA&DAWN, while also pursuing a solo career.

Despite being 29 years old, there is a female idol who remains determined to debut for the 6th time in order to establish a stable position in the entertainment industry. Back in 2016, during the first season of the Produce 101 series, Kim So Hee, who was then 21 years old (born in 1995), participated as a contestant. Despite making it to the final round, she ultimately missed out on debuting with I.O.I, finishing in 15th place. She then went on to join the project group C.I.V.A.

In 2016, So Hee joined I.B.I, a group created from the remaining contestants of Produce 101 who did not make the final top 11. Sadly, both C.I.V.A and I.B.I disbanded soon after.

A year after, So Hee joined a reality show and made her debut with the project group Girls Next Door, which included Seulgi (Red Velvet) and Moonbyul (MAMAMOO). In November 2017, she also released her first solo mini-album, The Fillette.

Despite leaving her management company in 2019, she continued her career by signing with n.CH Entertainment and becoming a member of the group NATURE. However, this group also announced their disbandment in April 2024.

Despite NATURE’s disbandment, So Hee was able to take part in the TROT GIRLS JAPAN show. Unfortunately, she was unable to appear in the Korea VS Japan Trot version due to unforeseen circumstances. However, fate intervened and So Hee and fellow TROT GIRLS JAPAN contestant Kanou Miyu came together to form the duo Atlantis Kitsune under n.CH. Their debut is set for August 2024.

Although she has faced challenges in her career, Kim So Hee has never let her passion die out. She has consistently pursued opportunities to make a name for herself in the entertainment industry. Now, at the age of 29, the idol is taking on a new challenge, determined to finally achieve success!
