A BL Manhwa Portrays Gojo with More Respect Than Jujutsu Kaisen

After an extensive journey spanning 6 years and encompassing 271 chapters, Jujutsu Kaisen has officially concluded. Creator Gege Akutami announced at the start of 2024 that the manga was set to end this year. However, many fans were caught off guard when news broke that the final chapters would be confined to just 5 following the release of chapter 266, leaving numerous story arcs seemingly unresolved.

In a surprising yet fulfilling manner, Akutami delivered a conclusion that brought back characters previously thought to be dead, saved Megumi Fushiguro, resurrected Nobara Kugisaki, and apparently defeated Ryomen Sukuna for good. Nonetheless, the absence of Gojo Satoru in the final chapter left many fans frustrated.

As anticipation built up around the series’ ending, fans found a semblance of satisfaction in another series entirely—a manhwa titled Just Twilight. This series featured a character reminiscent of Gojo Satoru in a humorous scenario that sparked amusing theories among fans.

Disclaimer: This article is speculative and assumes that the character in question is indeed Jujutsu Kaisen’s Gojo Satoru.

Just Twilight Manhwa Honors Jujutsu Kaisen’s Gojo

According to many fans, the ideal conclusion for Jujutsu Kaisen would have included the return of Gojo Satoru. After his demise in chapter 236, the community held onto hope that Akutami would somehow bring Gojo back into the narrative alive. Unfortunately, the manga concluded without any indication of the Six Eyes user’s fate.

Interestingly, an entirely different form of media chose to portray Gojo in a unique light. The manhwa Just Twilight, which has released 44 chapters to date, depicted Gojo reclining comfortably on an airplane. For those interested, this particular scene can be found in chapter 31 of the manhwa, prompting a flurry of fan theories.

While many of these theories were humorous, one intriguing speculation directly linked to Akutami’s universe. The theory suggests that after his death, Gojo might have been seen reuniting with friends at what resembles an airport, hinting at a possible storyline.

Fans will recall that in the afterlife, Kento Nanami presented Gojo with a choice: Head North to forge a new path or Head South to revert to his old self. Considering the characters present at the airport, many appeared to choose the path South, returning to their former selves. However, Gojo has always been known for his rebellious spirit.

Given his character, it’s likely Gojo chose to head North, opting for a fresh beginning which remained unexplored. Various interpretations exist regarding Gojo’s state—some speculate he may have returned in a form related to Yuta Okkotsu, through utilizing Kenjaku’s techniques, but this remains a topic of debate.

Regardless, this adds to the list of intriguing mysteries within Jujutsu Kaisen. The theory further posits that Gojo’s appearance in Just Twilight signifies his journey heading North. As the travel may be lengthy, he opts to relax on his flight, leaving fans to feel other series are adequately honoring Gojo, contrasting with the way he was treated in Jujutsu Kaisen.
