A Complete Guide on Obtaining and Using the Chainsaw in Fortnite

<p>The latest Fortnitemares event has introduced a new weapon to Fortnite: the Chainsaw. This is not just any ordinary weapon; it can be a game changer if used wisely. Here’s how to obtain and maximize the effectiveness of the Chainsaw.

The first glimpse of the Chainsaw was seen during the Fortnitemares promotional teasers. With the upcoming addition of Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise as part of this season’s skins, it makes perfect sense to include such a weapon in Chapter 5, Season 4.

This powerful tool not only inflicts significant damage in close combat but also serves as an excellent mobility option, allowing you to traverse the map with greater speed.

If you’re eager to wield the Chainsaw, continue reading to discover how to acquire and use it in Fortnite.

How to Acquire the Chainsaw in Fortnite

There are two primary methods to obtain the Chainsaw in Fortnite. Although it’s categorized as an Epic-tier weapon, it can sometimes be looted from the ground in structures or found within chests. However, this isn’t a guaranteed method, which is where the alternative approach comes into play.

If you happen to have sufficient gold, you can purchase the Chainsaw from specific NPCs scattered across the game. Here’s where you can find them and the cost involved:

  • Acquire for 300 Gold from Dark Ruby located in Rebel’s Roost.
  • Acquire for 300 Gold from Andy Fangerson stationed at Grim Rate.

It’s important to note that each NPC only has a single Chainsaw available. Make sure to reach these locations quickly to avoid being beaten to it by other players.

The Chainsaw is also a fantastic mobility tool because it doesn’t consume stamina.

To utilize the Chainsaw, simply hit the primary fire button to unleash its aggressive swings against enemies. If you’re skilled at timing your strikes, you can deal substantial damage, although you must be within close range.

You can also execute a Jump Attack by pressing the primary fire button while jumping, but be aware that timing this move can be challenging.

Alternatively, pressing the aim button lets you glide the Chainsaw along the ground, which is useful for quickly closing gaps with enemies or retreating from intense situations.

Here’s a summary of the controls for operating the Chainsaw:

  • Attack: click left mouse button, R2, or RT
  • Jump Attack: click left mouse button + space, X + R2, or A + LT
  • Rush Attack: hold right mouse button, LT, or L2

As a bonus, the Rush Attack can also be executed while moving vertically on slopes or hills. Combining this maneuver with a Flowberry Fizz or utilizing the river buff can create an effective strategy for navigating to a different point of interest.

Moreover, the Chainsaw can demolish structures and enemy builds, making it an essential weapon in crucial moments.

If you aim to secure a kill, consider pairing the Chainsaw with a long-range or mid-range weapon to reduce your opponent’s health before launching a Rush Attack, followed by a regular attack to finish them off before they have a chance to react.
