In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, a multitude of challenging decisions await you. Among them is the pivotal choice between Faravid and Halfdan. Although you may not initially grasp the gravity of this decision, it will ultimately determine the fate of Eivor’s war against the powerful King Alfred.
Making a wise decision will secure Eivor’s alliance with the Eurviscire clan, whereas acting hastily could result in losing potential support in future battles.
As you attempt to forge an alliance with the Eurviscire troop in the Royal Hall of Jorvik, you will come across Halfdan. This encounter will trigger a mission called “Of Blood and Bonds,”in which you will be presented with a crucial question.
To kick off the festivities at the hall, a cut scene will begin. After Halfdan raises a toast to his newfound alliance with Eivor, he will take a sip of his drink and suddenly cough and drop his cup. Curious, Moira will inspect the cup and discover that it is made of lead, the very same material that once caused the Romans to go mad with every sip.
Eivor will be caught in the middle as Halfdan accuses Faravid of poisoning him and the two engage in a heated argument. Ultimately, Eivor will have to make a decision and choose between the two.
1. The Two Choices
Instead of rushing to a conclusion, let’s take a moment to briefly discuss the two available options so that you can make a confident decision.
I. Choice 1: You are insane, Halfdan
By siding with Faravid, you risk angering Halfdan and causing him to banish Faravid from his lands. Additionally, you may lose the opportunity to form an alliance with Halfdan.
However, it should be mentioned that during your escort of Faravid out of the halls and your farewell, he remains silent when you ask him if he was truly responsible for the lead poisoning cup.
It can be inferred that he was indeed a traitor who made the conscious decision to remain quiet.
This can cause you to doubt if your decision was correct.
II. Stand down or fight me, Faravid
By siding with Halfdan, Eivor condemns Faravid for treason and triumphs over him in battle. Consumed by anger and a sense of betrayal, Halfdan strikes Faravid with a deadly blow from his hammer, resulting in the latter’s demise.
Upon Faravid’s passing, Halfdan presents you with a symbol of friendship, solidifying Eivor’s strong alliance with Eurviscire and Halfdan’s clan.
- Attempt to stun Faravid by targeting either his head or right foot during the attack.
- As soon as an opportunity arises, execute a combination attack to inflict substantial damage on your opponent.
However, you may be struggling to decide on the best option between the two.
2. Who Should I Choose Between Halfdan Or Faravid?
It is recommended that you select the “Stand down or fight me, Faravid” option and align with Halfdan. By doing so, Halfdan will eliminate Faravid for his act of treason and present Eivor with a symbol of peace, solidifying their alliance.
Choosing this option will not only result in a strong alliance with Eurviscire, but it will also relieve you from the burden of dealing with the Eurviscire clan and allow you to focus on seeking out other potential allies.
Moreover, Faravid’s failure to confirm or deny the lead poisoning allegations could be interpreted as evidence that he did indeed plan to poison Halfdan and committed treason. It is wise not to align oneself with such a deceitful individual, don’t you agree?
During the decision-making process, it is important to keep in mind your initial goal of forming an alliance. Any possible hindrances should be carefully considered and explored.
Therefore, have you decided yet?
