If a group of Pokemon fans were asked to name their favorite aspect of the video games, it’s doubtful that “lore and narrative appeal”would be the first thing that comes to mind.
Although the plot in Pokemon games is engaging and enjoyable, it tends to be rather straightforward, allowing players to immerse themselves in the role of the main character and concentrate on discovering new areas, forming a team, and battling Gym leaders.
While the series has many impressive story arcs, those in the more recent Pokemon games stand out. This was a topic of discussion among fans on X, prompted by @Bulbagarden who asked Pokemon players to share their favorite moments from the entire series.

The Pokemon enthusiasts in the replies did not fail to impress, sharing their most cherished recollections from their experience with the series. Scarlet & Violet received a lot of praise, as did X & Y.
During the discussion, a player expressed, “To be honest, I absolutely adored the entire narrative of Scarlet and Violet. I found it genuinely touching, especially Arven’s conclusion, but really, the entire story.”Others joined in, agreeing that the sandwich-focused storyline of Arven and Mabosstiff was heartwarming.
One individual’s focus shifted to Nemona, as they shared photos of the climactic showdown between her and the player, describing the experience as finally witnessing her long-awaited transformation and release from isolation, all within the intense emotions of the battle.
Despite the impending release of Pokemon Legends Z-A, fans still showed a fair amount of interest in Pokemon X & Y. A Gen 6 fan mentioned, “The reunion of AZ and Floette remains a highlight.”
AZ and Floette were easily the highlights for a group of players. One person even posted a photo of the pair, stating, “People may have poked fun at this, but it was the initial core Pokemon game that brought me to tears. His expression of astonishment, his trembling hands, the gesture of absolution, and the culmination of a thousand-year odyssey.”
Players here showered other games with praise, such as Platinum, the Mystery Dungeon series, and Black & White. Emotional speeches and monologues, especially from characters like N and Cynthia, deeply resonated with fans.
If you haven’t completed the Scarlet & Violet DLC duo yet, I highly recommend giving them a try. Not only do they showcase beloved (and often parodied) characters, but they also offer captivating environments to discover and a variety of formidable Pokemon to encounter.
