A Helldivers 2 dev sets the record straight about the abandonment of operations

Following the spread of inaccurate information, a Helldivers 2 developer has explained how abandoning operations affects the war effort in the game.

A Helldivers 2 player recently posted a public service announcement (PSA) on Reddit, urging other users not to abandon missions before they finish. The concern was that leaving in the middle of the operation would essentially give the enemy a gratuitous victory in relation to the “planetary/galactic campaign”.

In other words, players feared another big loss for Super Earth, especially since most of the abandonments were motivated by the desire to farm XP and Requisitions. An Arrowhead developer, Evil-Bosse on Discord, gave credence to these concerns. He indeed stated that “leaving after only half the operation counts as a defeat for Super Earth” .

Fortunately, details provided by another team member set the record straight once and for all.

Helldivers 2 developer clarifies how abandoning operations impacts the war effort

A Helldivers developer and Reddit user, AGHS_Misty, clarified the confusion in a response to a post that has since garnered over 12,000 upvotes. According to his comment, leaving a player early from a mission does not harm the overall war effort.

The developer explained: “I can confirm that abandoning an operation does not increase the enemy’s percentage, so people leaving operations do not negatively affect a planet. Unfortunately, Evil-Bosse was wrong, but we all make mistakes!»

Evil-Bosse also responded to the discussion on Reddit, admitting that they were wrong. “I confirm, I accidentally spread false information, with all my apologies.”

This clarification on operations means Helldivers 2 players have one less thing to worry about as they continue to fight for Super Earth.
