A Pokémon Scarlet & Purple glitch strangely tattoos Incineroar

A Scarlet and Purple Pokémon trainer encountered a strange bug that gave his Incineroar text-based “tattoos” on its fur.

Pokémon Scarlet and Purple’s Indigo Disc DLC introduced a bunch of returning Pokémon in Generation 9, including all of the starter Pokémon from generations past.

Now, Trainers can roam Paldea, Kitakami, and the Blueberry Academy Terarium with their favorite partner Pokémon like Incineroar.

However, a trainer noticed a strange bug while traveling with his Incineroar, as it appeared to have text-based “tattoos” enveloping the dark parts of its fur.

The bug originates from the Pokémon Scarlet and Purple subreddit where a trainer said, “I noticed a bug where text was appearing around Incineroar’s body.”

The author included a set of screenshots showing Incineroar standing in the snow. If we look at Incineroar’s tail and arm fur, we can see white text wrapped around his model.

“I noticed this about two weeks ago when I was training my Incineroar,” the player explained. “The text disappeared when I recalled it but I don’t know what caused it. I think it’s pretty cool lol.”

Members of the Scarlet and Purple community found the bug amusing, with many calling the text “tattoos.”

“The fat cat has tattoos,” said one fan, while another commented, “Nah he just got some stylish tattoos.”

Others looked at professional wrestling inspirations of the Fire/Dark type. “These are his sponsors, the best Pokémon in the world is going to get a few you know,” one fan said.

It’s not exactly clear why this strange bug occurred, but it appears to be an issue with textures overlapping each other.

As others in the post comments have pointed out, a similar bug occurred when using the Let’s Go mechanism with Luxray.

Hopefully the next Gen 9 title, Pokémon Legends: ZA, will launch in a much more polished state than Scarlet and Purple.
