A Pokémon Scarlet & Purple player completed the game with only one small Pokémon

Paldea’s Pokémon League was defeated by a single Olivini, thanks to a challenge from a Pokémon Scarlet & Purple fan.

The Pokémon series is well known for its challenges, the most famous being the Nuzlocke challenge, where players only capture one Pokémon per area and must release it if it is KO’d in battle, creating a potential game over.

There are also challenges where players complete the game with only one Pokémon. This is easier for some Pokémon than others, as a powerful Dragon-type can crush most competition, but a Ditto or Parecool will struggle due to their quirks.

Pokémon games aren’t designed for these challenges, so some of the more surprising Pokémon can complete them. This includes Pokémon that appear weak but can potentially destroy the competition when unhindered by teammates.

Someone completed Pokémon Scarlet & Purple with an Olivini

A user on the Pokémon Scarlet & Purple Reddit managed to beat the main story with only an Olivini. He also chronicled his trip on the Perhaps-Cow YouTube channel. He completed every Gym, defeated the Titans, and beat every Team Star lair with the Olivini.

The rules included not using items from the bag, not changing Olivini’s Plant Tera-Type, and no Friendship bonuses, although they did use held items during the challenge.

“The weakest champion got wiped out by an olive, nice,”one user wrote, while another said, “Seriously how does this work, like how can an Olivini have such a set of attacks and not be immediately knocked out in one hit?»

While completing the Paldea region with only an Olivini is a feat, it’s worth mentioning that Geeta is one of the weakest Champions in the series, to the point that fans have tried to rework her team to make it more imposing.

There’s also more to do in the Paldea region, as Geeta isn’t the final boss. The player still needs to complete Zone Zero before truly completing Pokémon Scarlet & Purple, let alone the DLC content, as Blueberry Academy’s Elite Four would be much more difficult than Geeta.

Completing a challenge with a single Pokémon is extremely difficult, even with a level 100 Pokémon, with a lot of frustrating grinding involved to make a Pokémon strong enough to take on the world. This challenge proves that an Olivini has what it takes to become the best, like no one has ever been, in the Paldea region.
