A Pokémon Scarlet & Purple player thinks the story isn’t over

A Pokémon Scarlet and Purple player believes a subtle secret could point to more content, even after the release of announced Gen 9 DLC.

The Pokémon series embraced DLC with the Nintendo Switch generation, meaning The Pokémon Company can continue to add content post-launch, unlike before, when generations received a third entry to include new material.

Pokémon Scarlet and Purple received post-launch content via the Buried Treasure of Zone Zero DLC, released in two updates: The Turquoise Mask and The Indigo Disc. These updates were followed by a brief epilogue featuring Pêchaminus.

Now that the DLC is out, fans aren’t sure if there’s anything left for the 9th generation. With the Nintendo Switch nearing the end of its lifespan, it’s unclear whether The Pokémon Company is preparing more titles for that platform or preparing for the console’s successor.

Pokémon Fan Thinks Home Screen Is A Hint For More Content

A user on the Pokémon Scarlet and Purple Reddit has theorized that there is still more content to come, based on a strange easter egg involving the title screen. When you first launch the game, the opening screen shows the early morning sky through the window.

Once you’ve completed the main story, it changes to Midday, and finishing the DLC changes it to Twilight. This means that there is still more night to come, which could indicate that more content is on the way for 9th generation.

However, not everyone was convinced. “Maybe,” another user wrote, “But a setting sun has usually meant the end of a journey, like riding off into the setting sun.” The sun rises on a new journey and sets at its end.»

Some fans believe that leaks regarding Pokémon Scarlet and Violet prove that there is still more content to come. There are leakers online saying that Generation 9 will receive another Mythical Pokémon, but this has not yet been confirmed and should be taken with a grain of salt.

If there is one more piece of content, this could be what finally changes the opening screen to night, meaning the end has come for 9th generation.

Fans probably won’t have to wait long for the answer, as Pokémon Day is scheduled to take place on February 27. This is where we’ll learn if there’s more content coming for Gen 9 or if The Pokémon Company is gearing up for Gen 10.
