A small change to Pokémon Go makes players happy

Thousands of Pokémon Go players from around the world recently participated in the exciting Road to Sinnoh event, and now, after the challenges ended, Niantic has made some changes that fans love.

A Pokémon Go global event is always exciting, with players from all over participating to catch powerful Pokémon like Palkia and Dialga.

Recently, Sinnoh’s Pokémon Go event introduced Origin Form versions of these mythical monsters to the game, as well as fun new features known as Adventure Effects, meaning crowds of trainers bought tickets of Study for additional encounters with these Pokémon.

However, while trainers everywhere know that One-Time Research Tickets can expire, Special Research Tickets can remain in your game indefinitely. But what happens when the task becomes impossible to complete? Fortunately, Niantic has thought of this.

Niantic’s Special Research change makes Pokémon Go fans happy

A Pokémon Go player called u/LiveNeedleworker8759 recently shared a post on Reddit, reviewing a change made by Niantic, and praising it for making the game easier for players around the world.

Thought I’d mention this in case no one else had byu/LiveNeedleworker8759 inpokemongo

As part of the popular Pokémon Go Road to Sinnoh event, Niantic recently released a Special Research post called “Circuit Go 2024: This is the Time (and the Space)” .

Clearly intended to be completed during the event, tasks included things like capturing a Palkia or Dialga, which might have been easy while they were populating Raids, but is likely to prove very difficult for players in Pokémon Go later, when the Raid bosses change.

Apparently anticipating this problem, as explained in this post, Niantic changed any task requiring players to capture specific Pokémon, such as the “Capture Palkia”task, to a more generic task, “Capture a Legendary Pokémon”, thus giving everything the world a chance to complete the challenge.

Pokémon fans in the comments are quite happy with this clever change, with one user commenting, “Thank goodness, thank you good sir or madam for bringing this up.”

This isn’t the first time Niantic has done this sort of thing, as another user recalled their experience, adding, “They did something similar last year when we had a task to do a primary reversion and I was missing some candy. They changed it to evolve a Pokémon into Mega Evolution.”

Meanwhile, some are wondering what exactly defines a Legendary Pokémon, with one comment saying, “Remember when the Pokémon cartoon called Arcanine a legendary Pokémon. Good times…”

Hopefully this change will help Pokémon Go players stuck on this Special Research, and perhaps Niantic will offer similar changes for difficult tasks in the future.
