If you’ve completed the base campaign of Remnant 2, you can embark on your journey in The Dark Horizon DLC by selecting your preferred character and interacting with the World Stone checkpoint. New players should create a character and complete the tutorial. Following this, Ford and Clementine will be transported by the World Stone before you. Upon reaching the next checkpoint, select the Return to Ward 13 option from the center of the map.

From this point onward, both new and returning players will follow the same steps to access the Remnant 2 Dark Horizon DLC. Follow the instructions below:

  • Interact with the World Stone (checkpoint) to open the World Map, where you’ll see a message indicating that Adventure Mode is now available.
  • Select World Settings at the bottom of the menu (refer to the first image above).
  • On the Select Game Mode screen, choose the Create New Adventure Mode option (see the second image).
  • Next, select The Dark Horizon One Shot and choose your desired difficulty level on the following screen; Survivor or Veteran is recommended for new players.
  • You have now successfully created a new Adventure Mode. Click on Adventure The Dark Horizon from the game mode selection menu (refer to the third image) to begin your adventure.

You can now select N’Erud from the map, as shown in the image above, and choose your primary objective. Your first quest will take place at Devoid Quietus, allowing you to explore the new world crafted by the developers as part of The Dark Horizon DLC in Remnant 2.

What is Adventure Mode in Remnant 2?

Adventure Mode differs from the Campaign, which follows a fixed storyline. In Adventure Mode, players can engage in different world settings without affecting story progress. You can challenge a boss, navigate your favorite landscapes, complete specific missions, or simply level up. The Dark Horizon Adventure Mode operates independently from the main campaign, functioning as a distinct quest rather than a direct continuation of the primary storyline.

The Dark Horizon is set in a sector of the N’Erud world overrun by corrupted machines. A mysterious entity controls rogue AI and robots, and players will unravel more about this threat as they progress through the game. Expect challenging new bosses, opportunities to collect valuable gear, discover hidden dungeons, and experiment with the glider travel system (see image above).

As you venture into the new biome of N’Erud, you’ll hear the voice of the entity expressing surprise at your arrival. After fending off the initial wave of enemy drones and reaching the first checkpoint in this wasteland, the first NPC you will encounter is the Gardener (see image above). Engaging with this character reveals crucial information about this area and indicates that your arrival was anticipated. The Gardener’s mind is also affected by the entity’s corruption, but they will do their best to caution you to stay away during your conversation. Are you willing to defy this warning?

What is Included in The Dark Horizon DLC in Remnant 2?

As previously mentioned, the primary focus of the new Remnant 2 DLC is The Dark Horizon adventure within the N’Erud world. Alongside fresh characters, formidable bosses, and the Warden Archetype, players can discover new weapons, amulets, and rings in this surreal environment. However, unlocking everything will require multiple playthroughs.

In addition, the Dark Horizon DLC introduces a new Boss Rush game mode. If you’ve completed your exploration and prefer to engage in boss fights in Remnant 2, this mode is perfect for you. You can initiate Boss Rush Mode from the World Map menu, similar to accessing the DLC, and face a random assortment of bosses. You can select from Triple Threat, Trial By Fire, or The Gauntlet, with the difficulty level increasing as you progress.

Furthermore, the Prism System is introduced in this update, allowing for diverse character builds through the relic fragment system. You can enhance your prism upgrades to earn as many as five additional stat bonuses. The Boss Rush mode and the Prism System will be available for all players, regardless of whether the DLC was purchased.

Warden is the latest Archetype available for your character in Remnant 2. Inspired by the robot-dominated landscape of N’Erud featured in The Dark Horizon, this operator can be unlocked after obtaining the Command Module. The Warden is equipped with advanced armor and is supported by a tactical drone. This drone can perform various functions, including providing shields, healing, and combat modes, making the Warden a top-tier Archetype.

How Long is The Dark Horizon DLC in Remnant 2?

The overworld introduced in The Dark Horizon DLC is larger than those in the previous two DLCs for Remnant 2, resulting in a potentially longer gameplay experience. Players can expect to finish a single playthrough of The Dark Horizon DLC in approximately four to six hours, depending on the selected difficulty level. However, to achieve 100% completion and unlock all content, multiple playthroughs will be necessary.
