Ace of Diamond: Act II Gets a Sequel Anime

On Saturday, May 18, 2024, the official website and X (formerly known as Twitter) handle for the Ace of Diamond: Act II anime announced that the series will be getting a sequel. Along with this news, the staff also revealed a celebratory visual, created by the original author, Yuji Terajima.

Despite the lack of details about the anime’s release date, production studios, etc., it is worth noting that Ace of Diamond: Act II is based on the popular Japanese manga series of the same name, created by Yuji Terajima. The manga was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine from 2015 to 2022, with a total of 34 tankobon volumes collecting the chapters.

Ace of Diamond: Act II confirms sequel anime with a congratulatory visual

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the original series, the official staff of Ace of Diamond: Act II anime hosted a livestream event on YouTube on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

At this event, the voice actors of Eijun Sawamura (Ryota Osaka), Satoru Furuya (Nobunaga Shimazaki), Kazuya Miyuki (Takahiro Sakurai), and Haruichi Kominato (Natsuki Hanae) revealed a special illustration drawn by the author, Yuji Terajima. This announcement confirmed that a new season of the Ace of Diamond: Act II anime will be airing on television.

Regrettably, this livestream did not unveil any significant information about the anime, such as its release date, format, cast and staff. Nevertheless, it is anticipated that the voice actors in attendance will return to portray their respective characters.

After the livestream, Yuji Terajima-san’s illustration was shared with fans on the official website and X account for the sports anime. The visual showcases the main characters from the Seido High School baseball team, including Kazuya, Eijun, Haruichi, Satoru, and Yoichi.

Undoubtedly, the illustration has increased anticipation for a sequel among fans of this sports anime. Nevertheless, fans can anticipate further updates regarding the production of the anime at a later date.

The Ace of Diamond: Act II anime, which originally aired from October 2013 to March 2015 and consisted of 75 episodes, aired a second season from 2015 to 2016 with 51 episodes. Notably, the anime aired a total of 52 episodes from April 2, 2019, to March 31, 2020.

The upcoming sequel anime is expected to continue the storyline of Yuji Terajima’s manga series and present a fresh obstacle for Seido High School’s baseball team to overcome.

Kodansha USA is responsible for the English publication of the manga. It follows the journey of Eijun Sawamura, who becomes a member of Seido High School’s renowned baseball team, in the story of Ace of Diamond.

As he becomes acquainted with Kazuya Miyuki, Haruichi Kominato, Akira Furuya, and others, he also shares their dream of playing in the nationals. Together, they overcome various challenges and eventually qualify for the Fall tournament.

In addition to portraying the value of friendship, the manga also effectively depicts the dedication and effort required in the game of baseball.
