On August 17th, Choi Min-sik was featured as a guest on MBC’s “Son Seok-hee’s Questions” .
During a conversation with Choi Min-sik about the film “Exhuma”, Son Seok-hee mentioned, “Do you remember Kim Go-eun? She was a guest on ‘Newsroom’ when I was hosting. I complimented her on her natural and approachable appearance without heavy makeup.”
He recounted, “The wording wasn’t exactly the same, but my juniors at JTBC scolded me for quite some time after I made that comment. They said, ‘How could you speak to her as if she was just an ordinary person?’… They explained to me that it was disrespectful to address an actress in that way.”
Choi Min sik complimented, “I believe you spoke eloquently to a veteran actor. It sounded like a sincere compliment to me.”Reflecting on his initial encounter with Scarlett Johansson, who was dressed in jeans and a white t-shirt, the actor remarked, “She appeared to be a small student, but as soon as she faced the camera, it was as if she possessed some sort of enchanting power. Kim Go-eun has a similar aura.”He added, “As an actress, having self-assurance and talent are qualities that can be displayed on stage or in front of the camera.”
Upon hearing this, Son Seok-hee responded, “I won’t feel sorry,” but then unexpectedly made a shocking confession, admitting, “Actually, I had told Kim Go-eun the same thing earlier – ‘I don’t think you’re much different from our staff’.”
Upon hearing the statement, the audience was taken aback and even Choi Min-sik was left momentarily speechless. Son Seok-hee, noticing the actor’s uncommon response, chimed in, “I suppose I should accept the criticism for my words.”To this, Choi Min-sik chuckled and replied, “I agree.”
