Actor Wi Ha-joon Shares Details on His Role in Squid Game 2: Minimal Impact on the Plot

On this particular day, Wi Ha-joon shared some behind-the-scenes audition experiences from “Squid Game”. Despite portraying an undercover cop in the show, he revealed that his character was not initially set in stone. The director had expressed a preference to not cast actors who were already committed to other projects.

At the time, Wi Ha-joon was working on another drama and was unsure if he would be a part of this project. However, he decided to attend the simple reading with a relaxed mindset after being assured it would not be a major commitment. He remembered, “I had just dealt with a pimple and my hair was disheveled, so I threw on a hat.”

Upon entering the room, he was met with a sea of cameras eagerly waiting for him. However, he had taken the precaution of memorizing the script beforehand, as he was feeling quite anxious. Looking back on the situation, he understood the importance of always being ready. He came to the realization that complacency is never a viable choice.

Debuting on Netflix in 2021, “Squid Game” took the world by storm and set new records for the streaming platform. Wi Ha-joon shared, “Within a short time, my social media following skyrocketed to 10 million, gaining an additional 100,000 followers every day.”

Wi Ha-joon has been officially announced to star in the highly anticipated “Squid Game 2”, set to be released in December. With the immense popularity of the first season, he acknowledged feeling a certain level of pressure.

When Shin Dong-yup inquired, “Do you have any concerns about the show receiving the same amount of love as Season 1?”Wi Ha-joon replied, hinting that his role in the series was minimal by stating, “My involvement is limited. I simply survived and returned, that’s all.”

The actor further elaborated that his involvement was primarily for the purpose of making a short return.

“Wi Ha-joon revealed that his role may not have a significant impact, but he expressed excitement by stating that the new characters portrayed by other actors are actually more intriguing.”

“He also noted that the games have grown in scale, providing a lot more to see. The sets have become even more grandiose and the characters’ backstories are now intricately crafted.”

Despite being asked for more information, Wi Ha-joon jokingly replied, “If I reveal more, I might lose my job,”which elicited laughter from everyone.
