Actors of Deadpool & Wolverine call for a Logan-like send off for longest-running Marvel character

Wesley Snipes’ reprisal of his role as Blade was the most significant cameo for both Deadpool and Wolverine. As a result, the movie’s stars are now advocating for a fitting and emotional farewell for Snipes.

With Deadpool & Wolverine’s theatrical release just over a week ago, the movie has already been breaking records and bringing a renewed sense of excitement to the MCU. The R-rated superhero film has reinvigorated the franchise in a way not seen in quite some time.

The inclusion of big cameos has brought new life to several forgotten Marvel franchises, notably Blade. The unexpected return of Wesley Snipes as the iconic vampire slayer goes against the current plans for Blade in the MCU, which have been stalled in development.

The actors of Deadpool and Wolverine have proposed a solution to this problem: to provide Snipes’ Blade with a proper send-off.

“According to actor Ryan Reynolds, without Blade paving the way, there would be no Fox Marvel Universe or MCU. In a Twitter post, Reynolds referred to Blade as the “Marvel Daddy”and urged fans to retweet for a send off similar to Logan’s. In support, co-star Hugh Jackman shared the post on his own Twitter account and dedicated it to Blade.”

As of now, the comments are gaining momentum, as fans express their support. Several are simply showcasing their excitement with memorable lines from the movie, like when Blade declares, “there will always be just one Blade,”and Deadpool breaks the fourth wall by gazing directly at the audience.

The ongoing struggles of the MCU’s Blade reboot, which was announced in 2019 but has yet to begin filming, make it a playful reference. As this movie appears to be at a standstill, a Logan-esque farewell may be just what is needed to bring closure to the Snipes era.

Despite not receiving as much recognition, Snipes also deserves credit for his role as Blade, as the actor indirectly paved the way for the success of superhero films. During a time when movies like Batman & Robin and Spawn were the norm for the genre, Blade showed that superhero movies could be profitable.

Despite having now achieved the record of being the longest-serving Marvel actor through his cameo in Deadpool and Wolverine, Snipes never received the proper farewell he deserved. His final on-screen appearance was in Blade: Trinity (2004), a movie that has since become a meme due to its troubled production and accusations of a negative work environment.

Based on the momentum and enthusiasm of the fans, it appears that an Old Man Blade-style farewell could be the perfect solution. Snipes has previously addressed this idea, dismissing it as “crazy”when fans proposed him as a replacement for Ali in the role of Blade.

While anticipating Blade’s next move, take a look at the top-ranked Marvel movies, as determined by science, the potential blockbuster that could dethrone Deadpool at the box office, or the movie that Ryan Reynolds almost brought to life.
