Actress Jenna Ortega speaks out after Netflix cancels show starring Percy Hynes White

Jenna Ortega has addressed the removal of Percy Hynes White from Wednesday following sexual assault allegations against the actor.

It is expected that Season 2 of Wednesday will be released on Netflix in 2025, following its renewal in 2023. In January of that year, numerous accusations were made against Hynes White, who played the role of Xavier Thorpe in the first season.

Despite denying the allegations, he has been removed from the streaming service’s production. Netflix has neither confirmed nor denied if his removal was related to the allegations.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Ortega has addressed his removal from the cast and shared that despite his absence, the show will be introducing new characters which will help to shift the focus away from his departure.

She also mentioned that the world being developed for the second season of Wednesday still has a slightly off-kilter feel to it.

Hynes White quickly rejected the allegations when they were made public, declaring them to be a “campaign of misinformation.”

In a recent Instagram story, he shared: “At the beginning of this year, an individual I have never encountered launched a false campaign against me on the internet. As a result, my family has been doxxed and my friends have been targeted with death threats.”

Unlawful images of me as a minor were utilized, and instances of me portraying a character were wrongly depicted as malicious. My companion Jane was unfairly portrayed as a target, and her efforts to clarify the truth have been disregarded. She has granted me permission to mention her in this statement.

Despite the rumors, I want to clarify that I do not hold any bigoted beliefs or act with criminal negligence towards people’s safety. These allegations are baseless and can cause harm by creating mistrust towards victims. It is disheartening to see how this misinformation has upset individuals.

“I am deeply grateful to those who have supported me and assisted in spreading the truth. I kindly urge for an end to the harassment of my loved ones and colleagues. Thank you for taking the time to read this.”

Both Ortega and Netflix have refrained from making any direct comments on the allegations made against Hynes White.
