Actress Receives Government Support After Retirement

On March 12th, Shiho Wakabayashi shared an update on her current situation through SNS. She revealed that she is currently living in a special place and receiving both a ‘disability pension’ and ‘livelihood protection’. The actress confessed, “I am leading a life that may be hard to imagine”. She also mentioned that she will not disclose the location in order to avoid any inconvenience to the local residents.

Shiho revealed that she had been receiving support for her livelihood since the previous year. She expressed, “I have been going through a lot emotionally. I believe it would help if I discuss it openly,”mentioning that she had already given an interview to a media platform but it has not yet been published.

Despite the overwhelming support shown for the actress, there were some who chose to write comments criticizing her. Shiho expressed her gratitude for the thousands of beautiful and supportive messages she received, but also revealed that she was deeply hurt by the hateful words of a few individuals. She then humbly requested for understanding.

Finally, Shiho tearfully expressed her regret for feeling like she had not met fans’ expectations. She honestly admitted, “I do regret it,”before acknowledging, “But that’s the truth.”

Shiho Wakabayashi made her debut in the entertainment world in 1984 and gained recognition for her role in a 1991 drama depicting the everyday struggles of a large family. In 2008, she decided to take a hiatus and subsequently ended her contract with her agency the following year, ultimately retiring from the entertainment industry.
