On December 24, ADOR issued a statement to TV Report clarifying, “The decision regarding the participation of artists in ‘Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show’ was made autonomously, without any prior consultation with our company. We had no knowledge of this appearance before it was announced.”

During the concluding moments of CBS’s “Kim Hyun-jung’s News Show,” host Kim Hyun-jung teased the upcoming Christmas special by announcing the appearance of NewJeans members. Interestingly, rather than using the group’s official name, Kim opted to refer to the members by their personal names, highlighting the ongoing changes relating to the group.
Notably, NewJeans had previously made headlines on November 28 when they declared the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR. The members stated, “The responsibility lies with HYBE and ADOR, hence we see no grounds for pursuing legal action or paying penalties.” Responding to this, ADOR subsequently filed a lawsuit at the Seoul Central District Court, seeking to affirm the legitimacy of the exclusive agreement.
Following their exit from ADOR, NewJeans has embarked on independent ventures, choosing to emphasize their individual names over their group identity. They have recently initiated a new communication platform titled “jeanzforfree” and garnered attention for their Vogue photoshoot, which was overseen by former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin. This photoshoot prominently featured the members’ real names rather than the group designation.
On December 18, ADOR raised concerns regarding these independent initiatives, urging, “We hope the members of NewJeans will continue to interact with fans through their official channels as they have done before. Activities conducted via unauthorized accounts could potentially result in legal complications, and we have communicated these concerns to both the artists and their legal representatives.”
