ADOR Takes Legal Action to Combat Malicious Content Targeting NewJeans
On December 27, ADOR made a significant announcement via the fan community platform Weverse, revealing that it is actively pursuing legal measures against individuals who disseminate harmful content. This includes acts of defamation, insults, sexual harassment, malicious slander, and derogatory nicknames aimed at NewJeans.
Official Statement from ADOR
“Hello,
This is ADOR.
We are taking regular legal action against those who post malicious content, including defamation, insults, sexual harassment, malicious slander, and derogatory nicknames targeting NewJeans. Here is an update on the major developments.
First, as a result of previous legal actions, several criminal acts have faced legal consequences. The Supreme Court has finalized a fine of several million won for the crime of creating and distributing fictitious obscene images by combining the artist’s likeness. Additionally, fines have been imposed in multiple cases against defendants who posted severely insulting comments. Furthermore, even anonymous malicious posts have been traced to specific suspects, leading to police investigations and legal proceedings.
Additionally, we have collected evidence of actions that infringe on the artist’s rights using valuable reports from fans and our real-time monitoring. We have filed complaints against numerous malicious content creators. The complaints include posts that mock the artist’s nationality and appearance, use derogatory nicknames, objectify or belittle the artist, and sexually harass them. These include malicious posts and comments spreading false information, insults, and harassment across domestic and international platforms (DC Inside, Ilgan Best, Naver, YouTube, etc.).
We adhere to a zero-tolerance policy and respond strictly in protecting the artist’s rights. We will continue to conduct thorough real-time monitoring across all domestic and international channels, securing evidence and pursuing strong legal actions to hold offenders accountable, no matter how long it takes.
Your interest and reports greatly assist us in our legal efforts. We encourage active reporting through the integrated reporting center for artist rights protection, which opened in September.
We are always grateful for the love and dedication fans show towards NewJeans. ADOR will continue to strive to protect the artist’s rights and honor.
Thank you.”
NewJeans’ Contractual Dispute with ADOR
In a separate development, NewJeans announced on the 29th of last month that they are terminating their exclusive contract with ADOR. The group expressed concerns that ADOR had failed to address violations of the contract, and they have stated their intention to move forward independently.
In response, ADOR has initiated legal proceedings at the Seoul Central District Court to confirm the validity of their exclusive contract with NewJeans, asserting that it remains legally binding.
