ADOR Files Injunction against NewJeans to Protect Management Rights

On January 13, ADOR announced that it has submitted an “Injunction for Preservation of Management Rights and Prohibition of Advertising Contracts” in the Seoul Central District Court against the members of NewJeans. This legal action aims to safeguard ADOR’s role as the management agency under an exclusive contract with the group.

Details of the Injunction

The injunction is a strategic move to maintain ADOR’s management authority while waiting for the outcome of a separate lawsuit concerning the validity of the exclusive contract. This lawsuit was filed on December 3, 2024, also in the Seoul Central District Court. Specifically, the injunction seeks to prevent NewJeans members from entering into independent advertising contracts or undertaking promotional activities without prior approval from ADOR.

ADOR reiterated its position, stating that “The NewJeans members, who unilaterally declared the termination of their exclusive contract, have been attempting to approach advertisers independently to sign contracts. This legal action is intended to prevent confusion and potential harm to third parties, particularly advertisers.”

ADOR’s Commitment to NewJeans

In its statement, ADOR expressed, “This injunction is a reflection of our desire to continue our partnership with NewJeans. We believe that even if the final ruling ultimately confirms the validity of the contract years later, it may no longer be possible to return to the original situation.”

Furthermore, ADOR reiterated its commitment to NewJeans, noting, “We maintain that our exclusive contract with NewJeans is valid and have consistently allocated the necessary personnel and resources to support their entertainment endeavors. We plan to uphold this support moving forward.” The agency added that they are currently in talks regarding various ongoing projects, which include advertisements and events. They have also confirmed plans for significant activities this year, such as releasing a full-length album and hosting fan meetings. ADOR emphasized their openness to engage in detailed discussions with NewJeans members about these upcoming plans.
