ADOR Raises Concerns Regarding NewJeans’ New Independent Social Media Account

On December 18, ADOR issued a statement addressing the unauthorized social media accounts linked to its artists. They noted, “All accounts outside of the official SNS established by ADOR were created without prior agreement, as stipulated in the exclusive contract. Advertisers and other third parties have raised inquiries and complaints regarding these accounts and their content.”

NewJeans recently initiated a new Instagram account named “jeanzforfree,” which debuted on December 14. This account gained attention when former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin showed her support by liking the account’s inaugural post.

The members of NewJeans expressed enthusiasm about their new platform, stating, “(This account) is really us. We’ll meet here more often.” This development follows their announcement that the exclusive contract with ADOR was terminated on November 29.

In contrast, ADOR disputes the termination of the contract, asserting that it remains in force. The agency has taken legal steps to confirm this validity amidst misunderstandings.

ADOR elaborated on their concerns, stating, “Independent entertainment activities conducted through these accounts could lead to legal issues, and we have communicated our concerns to the artists and their legal guardians (the members’ parents).”

Additionally, ADOR emphasized the importance of official channels for fan interaction, saying, “NewJeans already has dedicated platforms for fan communication, such as Phoning, along with official SNS accounts on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). We hope the members will continue to communicate with fans through the official channels as they have before.”

On the “jeanzforfree” account, NewJeans has shared images from their recent Vogue Korea photoshoot. Notably, the group’s name, “NewJeans,” was absent from the coverage, which only featured the individual member’s names. Min Hee-jin, as the creative director, played a significant role in this visually unique project.

NewJeans is also scheduled to make an appearance at the Golden Disc Awards, set to be held in Fukuoka, Japan, on January 4-5. Fans are excited to see how this situation evolves as both ADOR and NewJeans navigate their future endeavors.
