ADOR Responds to Court Ruling: Seeks Genuine Dialogue and Will Dispatch Staff to Support NewJeans

Court Ruling Reinforces ADOR’s Position as NewJeans’ Official Agency

On March 21, the Seoul Central District Court delivered a significant ruling, affirming ADOR as the exclusive agency for the popular K-pop group, NewJeans. This decision effectively prohibits the group’s members from engaging in independent activities outside of their contractual obligations to ADOR.

The court found that pursuing solo contracts and any promotional efforts without ADOR’s involvement constituted a breach of their exclusive agreement. This ruling comes amid growing tensions between the group and their agency.

ADOR Responds to the Court Decision

In light of the ruling, ADOR expressed appreciation for the court’s judgment and reiterated its dedication to the ongoing support of NewJeans. The agency confirmed its role in facilitating the group’s upcoming performance at ComplexCon in Hong Kong, where they will provide comprehensive on-site assistance under the NewJeans branding. Furthermore, ADOR emphasized its commitment to maintaining open lines of communication with the group, aspiring for a collaborative path forward.

Escalating Dispute Leads to Legal Action

The relationship between NewJeans and ADOR turned contentious last November when members of the group announced their intention to terminate their contracts, accusing the agency of various breaches. Following this declaration, the group attempted to carry out activities independently under the name “NJZ.”In response, ADOR filed a legal injunction in January 2025. This legal maneuver aimed to halt NewJeans from entering into new contracts or expanding their artistic endeavors, including songwriting and recording.
