On June 25th, ADOR, the agency for NewJeans, issued a notice stating that they are working on improving safety measures with the Japanese concert organizer. They also mentioned that the Korean police are currently investigating the case and their company is fully cooperating with the investigation.
“They stated that they are putting in every effort to ensure the safety of the artists while carrying out their activities.”
On the 24th, NewJeans was notified by a netizen of a death threat. The netizen had shared a photo of a knife on an online community, accompanied by the message, “I purchased this to use at NewJeans’ concert”, and also stated, “I plan on stabbing each member as they exit the van”.
After confirming that the knife picture had been copied from the internet, concerns were raised by NewJeans fans who were uncertain about the netizen’s intentions for committing the crime. As a result, the article was reported to the police.
Following a complaint from fans, the post was deleted and it has not been confirmed if the netizen intended to follow through with their threat. However, if a specific target is identified, the netizen could still face punishment for making a threatening statement, regardless of their intention to cause harm.
On the morning of June 20th, NewJeans embarked on their overseas schedules in Tokyo. The group is currently promoting their debut single “Supernatural”in Japan, with a performance scheduled for the 21st. In addition, they have announced a fanmeeting, “Bunnies Camp 2024,”to be held at Tokyo Dome on June 26th and 27th.
