On June 20th, Krafton and NewJeans’ agency ADOR released an official statement stating that there have been reports of inappropriate content being created and shared by users using NewJeans’ characters.
“It was stressed that this behavior goes against the brand image and values of both parties and is unpalatable to all fans.”
To tackle this problem, ADOR and Krafton stated, “We will respond accordingly to any items that go against the purpose of our collaboration. Our goal is to promote a more positive atmosphere in the game, allowing all players to have a safe and enjoyable experience. It is important for all users to comply with PUBG’s community guidelines, which forbid the sharing of inappropriate material. Any violations of these guidelines may lead to consequences that impact game usage.”
The individuals also emphasized, “We acknowledge the gravity of this situation and will take necessary measures to address any inappropriate content. Any problematic posts will be promptly removed, and the users responsible may be subject to limitations on their participation within the community.”
Furthermore, they requested for the collaboration of fans, encouraging them to promptly report any inappropriate content.
ADOR and Krafton acknowledged that the costumes were created with the game’s rating (15+) in mind, so as not to surpass the level of typical stage outfits. However, they did not anticipate the possibility of certain users misusing pre-existing in-game content in a manner that goes against the original purpose of the collaboration.
The statement concluded by declaring that both ADOR and Krafton have a shared goal of promoting artist protection and fostering a positive community culture. They emphasized that their collaboration has always prioritized the protection of artists and ensuring a healthy and enjoyable gaming experience through innovative content.
