Adorable new Pokemon merch has scary implications

Some disturbing implications about the lore have been revealed on social media regarding the latest adorable Pokemon merchandise.

In 2024, being a Pokemon enthusiast has its perks, one of which is the abundance of cute merchandise and collectibles to add to your collection. However, among the adorable TCG accessories and plush toys, there are also some peculiar collector’s items to be found.

Recently, The Pokemon Company Japan revealed a delightfully spooky item on X. They shared a photo of a stunning tea set featuring Polteageist and Sinistea designs, along with a serving of Rowlet chestnut ice cream, a Pikachu steamed cheese cake, an Alcremie matcha and yogurt parfait, and a Hisuian Lilligant pudding.

The “Cafe Chades”themed menu at the Pokemon Cafe is currently offering a promotion that includes a snacks and tea set. This promotion will be available starting on April 27th, 2024 exclusively at the Pokemon Cafe in Japan, with no plans for it to be offered elsewhere.

If you choose to order the set menu at the Cafe, you will receive the charming green acrylic menu stand featured in the post. However, the highlight of this reveal is the Sinistcha-themed tea set. According to the official news post for this announcement, this item will be purchasable on the Japanese Pokemon Center website starting from May 3rd, 2024.

This themed set is quite impressive, but for those who are well-versed in Pokemon mythology, this item may ring some alarm bells. For those who are not familiar, the Pokedex entry for Sinistcha reveals that it disguises itself as tea in an attempt to deceive individuals into consuming it and draining their life energy. Unfortunately, its deception is usually unsuccessful. Quite frightening, isn’t it?

In essence, this tea set is designed around a malevolent poltergeist that takes on the appearance of a comforting drink. According to the Pokedex, Poltchageist is said to embody the soul of a tea ceremony master who has long since passed away.

The merch release featuring a hilariously morbid design has become an instant hit among fans online. Their excitement was evident in the comments shared below the X post, with many expressing their eagerness to see the cute items and the difficulty in securing a reservation.

One fan enthusiastically exclaimed, “I finally have a reason to visit the Pokemon Cafe!”while another gushed about the adorable tea set. Some also brought up the eerie backstory of Polteageist and Sinistea, questioning the unusual decision to include them.

Obtaining the Sinistcha tea set outside of Japan may be challenging, but it is not impossible. When it is released in May, it is expected that it will be available for resale online. Therefore, if you are interested in this unique and unsettling piece of crockery, be sure to look for reputable resellers with dependable delivery policies.
