On September 2, Shin Woo-seok, the director behind NewJeans’ popular music videos, commented on the recent changes in policies under the new management at ADOR.
Due to ADOR’s request, all music videos and related content produced and uploaded by Dolphiners Films (tentative translation), including future uploads, can no longer be made available to the public.
It was stressed that the main purpose of operating the YouTube channels for Dolphiners Films. and Ban Hee-soo was to showcase their portfolio, and no profits were gained from the content. The videos were made with the intention of providing high-quality work for their fans, and the company did not receive any financial benefits from them. However, due to the new requirements set by ADOR, all videos must be removed and collaboration with ADOR is no longer feasible.
Similarly, the “Ban Hee-soo”YouTube channel aligns with NewJeans’ concept, portraying the point of view of the sixth companion filming the “Ditto”music video. The channel regularly posts content featuring NewJeans and has amassed a following of 652,000 subscribers.
Shin also conveyed his remorse, stating, “We had made commitments to collaborate with NewJeans on future projects, but unfortunately, we are unable to fulfill them. My heart goes out to the hardworking staff who dedicated months of effort, and especially to the fans who were eagerly anticipating these projects.”
According to a recent update on SNS by Shin, several NewJeans videos such as “ETA Directors’ Cut”and Apple’s “iPhone 14 Pro Global Commercial”were originally planned to be released on the YouTube channels Dolphiners Films. and Ban Hee-soo. However, it has been announced that these videos will not be published.
The news has caused NewJeans fans to express distress.
On August 27, ADOR removed CEO Min Hee-jin from her position and replaced her with Kim Joo-young. Despite ADOR’s statement that Min would still be responsible for NewJeans’ production and remain an internal director, Min Hee-jin disputed this, claiming that she was unfairly terminated and that the terms of the contract offered for her continued producing duties were unjust.
Furthermore, the recently appointed CEO, Ju Young Kim, has stated plans to reopen the investigation into claims of workplace harassment and sexual misconduct at ADOR, which were allegedly covered up by Min Hee-jin, with the goal of uncovering the truth about these accusations.
