Agatha All Along Uncovers the Truth Behind Wanda Maximoff’s Death

Episode 6 of Agatha All Along took viewers on a nostalgic journey while stepping away from the Witches Road, delving deep into the heartbreaking origins of Billy Maximoff (also known as Billy Kaplan). However, this episode revealed more than just his past.

As we witnessed the transformation from Kaplan to Maximoff, we also uncovered the identity of the witch who cast a magical sigil on Billy, preventing him from disclosing his true identity to anyone.

Initially, when he was still called Billy Kaplan, he had an encounter with Lilia, who provided him with a fortune reading and discreetly tucked the sigil in his pocket for reasons that remain somewhat ambiguous.

This seemingly innocent act by Lilia might have far-reaching consequences, not only for Earth-616 but for the entire Marvel Multiverse as well.

This magical sigil not only rendered Billy mute about his identity, but it also concealed him from the awareness of other witches. As Agatha articulates after Billy shatters the talisman inscribed with the sigil, “Every witch with a beating heart can hear you now.”

It is reasonable to conclude that, under Lilia’s enchantment, he was undetectable to other magic practitioners. How can we assert this? The evidence isn’t entirely clear, yet it’s evident that a certain powerful witch, desperately seeking her children, would have had a vested interest in locating Billy.

This brings us to the formidable Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff. Wanda literally fractured the multiverse in her desperate quest for her sons, making it odd that such a potent witch – capable of sensing her children within the boundless sea of the multiverse’s infinite possibilities – couldn’t locate one of her boys, who lived just a town away from Westview.

It appears likely that, unless Wanda was inept at using her scrying abilities, the sigil was obscuring Billy from Wanda’s perception through her third eye or the equivalent witches’ methods of locating individuals.

Wanda ultimately met her demise at Wundergore, driven to madness in her pursuit of her children. Her desperation led her to wield the power of the Darkhold, endangering not only Earth-616 but the entirety of the multiverse she traversed. Lilia’s actions fundamentally catalyzed this chaos.

Had she not placed the sigil on Billy, there’s a chance Wanda could have reunited with her son. Although Tommy would still be absent, having one of her children by her side might have steered Wanda away from the dark path she followed. After all, Billy believes that the Witches Road could lead to Tommy’s return; it’s plausible they could have ventured down that road as a family in hopes of restoring their lost child.

Alternatively, perhaps by that time, the Darkhold had already taken hold of Wanda’s fate, and not even her son could have diverted her from the perilous path she chose. What are your thoughts? Did Lilia inadvertently lead to Wanda’s downfall? Or was the Scarlet Witch fated to doom the moment she opened Agatha’s malevolent tome?
