Agency Releases Stance on Court Overturning Stock Manipulation Verdict of Lee Seung-gi’s Father-in-Law

On June 16th, Lee Seung-gi’s management company, Big Planet Made, issued a statement stating that the Supreme Court had ruled to overturn and send back the accusation of stock price manipulation against Lee Seung-gi’s father-in-law in 2016. The statement also expressed their commitment to fully support Lee Seung-gi as an artist, allowing him to concentrate on his career as an actor and singer.

The team representing Lee Seung-gi has issued a statement, requesting that the public respects the privacy of the artist’s family, as he always strives to build a closer relationship with his fans. Lee Seung-gi is currently fulfilling his duties as the head of his family, a husband, a father, and a son-in-law. Furthermore, his father-in-law A and mother-in-law (actress Kyeon Mi-ri) have recently become proud grandparents of a newborn baby.

Stressing that the matter concerning A occurred prior to Lee Seung-gi’s marriage, Big Planet Made stated, “It is a matter that should be resolved by the family,”and further commented, “Moving forward, our agency will vigorously pursue legal measures against any false information or harmful remarks regarding Lee Seung-gi and his family.”

On June 16th, the legal circles announced that the Supreme Court Division 3 (led by Chief Judge Roh Jung-hee) had overturned the initial ruling that found four people, including Kyeon Mi-ri’s husband A and B, innocent of violating the Capital Markets Act. The case was sent back to the Seoul High Court for further review.

During the second trial, A was acquitted by the court on the grounds that the transaction was not fraudulent. However, the Supreme Court disagreed with the lower court’s decision, stating that “This act was a deliberate attempt to gain financial profits by making false statements about crucial aspects of the company.”Consequently, the case was remanded to the Seoul High Court.
