Aharen-san Season 2: Production Officially Confirmed with Teaser Visual

On Saturday, August 3, 2024, the official X (formerly Twitter) public relations account for the anime franchise officially confirmed the production of Aharen-san season 2. Along with the announcement, a 60-second promotional video was released, showcasing new characters who will play a central role in the upcoming season.

In addition to the announcement of the second season, a key visual was also unveiled. The image features Aharen and her boyfriend Raido, both holding up two fingers to symbolize the upcoming season. Although release information for Aharen-san season 2 has not been confirmed, it is promised that more details will be revealed soon, possibly including this information.

Aharen-san season 2 production confirmation suggests, but doesn’t confirm, 2025 release

Although there is still no official release information for Aharen-san season 2, the timing of the announcement implies that the series will most likely debut in the 2025 calendar year. This follows the usual pattern of the gap between a series’ confirmation and its release, which is further supported by the release of a trailer along with the announcement.

Regrettably, the latest batch of announcements did not include any news about casting or staff information for the upcoming second season. Although this could indicate that there will be no significant changes in the production team for season 2, it is not confirmed at the time of writing this article.

Fans can anticipate the return of Felix Film studios in an animation capacity, led by directors Yasutaka Yamamoto and Tomoe Makino. It is likely that Takao Yoshioka will also resume scriptwriting duties, along with the possible return of Satoru Kosaki, Oliver Good, and Keita Inoue. The anime is expected to be streamed internationally by Crunchyroll as it airs weekly in Japan.

According to the anime’s official website, Inori Minase and Takuma Terashima will be reprising their roles as Reina Aharen and Raido, respectively. However, the rest of the cast has not yet been announced. It is highly likely that there will be new cast members added for the second season in the near future.

The second season of Aharen-san will continue the television anime adaptation of Asato Mizu’s manga series, which was originally published in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ digital service from January 2017 to April 2023. The full title of the series is Aharen-san wa Hakarenai.

The storyline centers around Raido Matsuboshi, a freshman in high school who faces difficulties in forming connections with others. Despite attempting to engage in conversation with a classmate sitting beside him, he believes she is intentionally disregarding him. However, he later discovers that the girl, Reina Aharen, has been ostracized by her peers due to her clinginess, awkwardness, and shyness. In an effort to support Reina and help her overcome her insecurities, Raido forms a friendship with her, which ultimately aids in his own personal growth.
