Critics argue that he has failed to capitalize on the attention garnered from this label and use it to further his acting career.
On July 20th, the music video for K.Will’s “No Sad Song For My Broken Heart”reached 5.43 million views. The video, which features Ahn Jae-hyun and Seo In-guk, is a sequel to the 2012 hit “Please Don’t…”which gained attention for its gay theme and earned both actors the “World Gay”label. The new video has also garnered popularity, reaching the top of YouTube’s trending videos on June 21st.
Despite the initial positive reception of Ahn Jae-hyun and Seo In-guk’s bromance in various content, it has become monotonous and uninteresting in recent weeks. However, Ahn Jae-hyun’s portrayal in the music video has been praised for its profoundness and moving display of emotions.
On July 12th, Ahn Jae-hyun made an appearance on MBC’s “I Live Alone”and once again displayed his “World Gay”persona through a heartwarming interaction with NCT’s Doyoung. While his acting in the music video received positive feedback, it is unfortunate that he has not shown more of his daily life as an actor. The show has only depicted him dealing with health concerns and visiting the hospital, leaving viewers wanting to see more of his professional life.
Despite showing improvement in his performance in a music video, Ahn Jae-hyun has yet to receive notable recognition for his acting. Additionally, there have been no announcements of any new acting roles for him, in contrast to Seo In-guk who has been actively promoting his new album and even has a fan meeting scheduled in Brazil on August 24th.
Despite its initial allure, the idea of “World Gay”is becoming less appealing due to its excessive use. In order to prove himself as a true professional actor, Ahn Jae-hyun must showcase his talent through substantial acting roles rather than relying solely on a music video.
