An enthusiastic traveler recently shared a “genius”travel hack that can potentially save individuals hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars on rented accommodations.
According to traveler and TikToker Anna, she has stopped gatekeeping a travel hack that has consistently saved her thousands of dollars over the years.
Anna disclosed that she saves the contact details of every single Airbnb host she has ever utilized, emphasizing how it made her feel like she was breaking the law.
When the time comes for her to travel once more, she contacts an Airbnb host near her desired destination. She mentions that the host typically has several properties available for rent.
The traveler noted that, even if the properties were not listed on the internet, the hosts preferred to rent to individuals who had proven to be responsible tenants in the past.
Additionally, she mentioned that their usual practice is to provide the rental property for a discounted rate of 70%. Furthermore, in certain situations such as last minute bookings or during off-season, some hosts are willing to offer her a room at a reduced rate of 50%, particularly if payment is made in cash.
@annathingbutanimals I also secretly do this when my friends stay at an airbnb too. I could legit open a travel agency at this point #travelhacks #travelhacking #cheaptravel #budgettravel #savingmoneytips #travelhacking101 #cheapairbnbs ♬ original sound – Anna – Vegan Group Travel
Anna goes the extra mile by looking for Airbnb hosts she has previously used for her friends. At this point, she jokes that she might as well start her own rental agency.
Anna utilizes a portable rotating card file called a Rolodex to manage her contacts. This device stores index cards that can be arranged alphabetically, providing an additional level of organization.
Those who watched Anna’s viral travel hack responded by concurring that it was a clever idea.
A verified Airbnb host also attested to the validity of her hack, stating, “As an Airbnb host, I can confirm that she is absolutely correct.”
One Airbnb host also mentioned in the comments that if a guest wants to book with a new host, they can send them a direct message through the Airbnb app and often receive a discount of at least 15% if they book outside of the app.
Despite the various methods of departure and tidying that renters may have, one TikToker gained widespread attention in April for criticizing those who make the beds before checking out.
They argued that there was no point in doing this as nobody would want to use someone else’s bedsheets before they had been washed.
Despite being an avid traveler, Anna may not fall into the group of individuals who leave their rooms in a less than desirable state. This is evident as she consistently manages to save thousands of dollars through her clever travel tips.
