Akutami bringing Gojo back in Jujutsu Kaisen may undo Yuji’s achievements

The recently revealed spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 260 ended with a shocking surprise, suggesting that the most powerful sorcerer of the current time, Satoru Gojo, may be making a comeback. In the final moments of the chapter, Sukuna attempted to use his Domain Expansion against Yuji and Todo, only to encounter a mysterious figure.

It is intriguing to note that the silhouette is referred to by the narrator as the ghost of the strongest individual whom Sukuna had personally slain. This strongly suggests that the person in question is Gojo, although Akutami has yet to officially confirm this.

If Gojo is indeed the one who returns, it could potentially harm Jujutsu Kaisen’s storyline in a particular way: Yuji Itadori’s accomplishments may be overshadowed. Gojo’s involvement in the narrative could take away from Yuji’s well-deserved spotlight and overshadow his moment to shine.

This article includes major spoilers from the manga series Jujutsu Kaisen.

Gojo’s Return to Jujutsu Kaisen Would Overshadow Yuji’s Feats Against Sukuna

In Jujutsu Kaisen, Satoru Gojo’s presence can be likened to that of a deus ex machina. His natural talents, granted by the Six Eyes, enabled him to defeat his enemies and achieve triumph in seemingly insurmountable circumstances.

Despite the lack of opportunities for other important characters to stand out, the Shinjuku Showdown arc proved to be a turning point. The intense clash between Satoru Gojo and Ryomen Sukuna provided Gege Akutami with the perfect chance to neutralize the overwhelming presence of the “Gojo factor”in the narrative of Jujutsu Kaisen.

By writing the death of Satoru Gojo, the author paved the way for other characters such as Yuji Itadori, Yuta Okkotsu, Hakari, and others to demonstrate their abilities and development. It is undeniable that Gojo’s presence in the story hindered this progress.

Despite the sorcerer’s death, Yuji, Yuta, Maki, and others were able to confront Sukuna and discover the means to exceed their own abilities. In particular, Yuji Itadori proved himself to be the true protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen.

Utilizing his Cursed Technique, he dominated Sukuna with his own interpretation of Cleave. Furthermore, the sorcerer displayed a rapid succession of Black Flash, showcasing the reason for his bestowed black sparks.

It could be argued that the Sukuna vs. Yuji clash was inevitable. Learning that Yuji is the reincarnated brother of Sukuna, the pieces fell into place and their fight became deeply personal. Yuji had a deep-seated hatred for Sukuna, as the sorcerer had not only killed his loved ones, but also caused the destruction of Shibuya while possessing his body.

After enduring immense pain, Yuji used it to fuel his strength. He successfully harnessed the Reverse Cursed Technique, mastered the Blood Manipulation Technique, and utilized the Black Flash to exceed his previous boundaries and astonish Sukuna.

Despite the overwhelming love and desire for his return from a majority of Jujutsu Kaisen fans, Gojo’s potential comeback threatens to overshadow all of the accomplishments made thus far. However, from a storytelling standpoint, the sorcerer’s departure and passing of the torch to his students was the perfect resolution.

Having had a desire to settle an old score (by eliminating Kenjaku and avenging Geto), Yuta Okkotsu accomplished his goal successfully. Therefore, if he were to make a comeback in Jujutsu Kaisen, the entire spotlight would be on Satoru Gojo instead of Yuji Itadori.

When considering the plot, the death of Gojo in Chapter 236 and its consequences in the narrative will be nullified.

How Gojo Could Return to Jujutsu Kaisen

Despite not officially confirming the identity of the mysterious figure at the end of Chapter 260 as Satoru Gojo, Gege Akutami’s narration and Sukuna’s reaction provide strong evidence.

Additionally, the figure’s silhouette bears a striking resemblance to Gojo’s appearance after his resurrection to battle Toji Fushiguro in the Hidden Inventory arc. Notably, in the original scans of Chapter 260, the right eye of the mysterious figure cannot be seen.

It is possible for Gojo to enter into a binding vow with his Six Eyes, in which he sacrifices his right eye in order to save his life. As a result, Shoko Ieiri may use a higher level of Reverse Cursed Technique to restore his body.

The potential outcome of this discovery could grant him the ability to defy death and engage in a second battle against Sukuna. However, the confirmation of Akutami regarding the enigmatic entity in the upcoming chapters will ultimately determine the course of events.
