Today, the latest spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen were unveiled and to say they are shocking would be a gross understatement. The jaw-dropping cliffhanger from the previous chapter was addressed in a most peculiar manner – it was revealed that Gojo Satoru had returned, but not in the way one would expect. It was actually Yuta Okkotsu who had taken over his sensei’s body using Kenjaku’s technique.
Despite the unbelievable nature of the spoilers, they also revealed another fascinating detail. It was previously thought that Yuta was responsible for killing the higher-ups before the Gojo-Sukuna fight. However, the spoilers for chapter 261 suggest that it was actually Gojo who slaughtered them, not Yuta.
Please note: This article includes spoilers for chapter 261 of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Jujutsu Kaisen: The Higher-Ups Were Killed by Gojo Satoru, Not Yuta
According to leaked information from Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 261, Gojo Satoru was responsible for the death of the higher-ups. This occurred before his anticipated showdown with Ryomen Sukuna. The spoilers disclose his personal decision to end their lives, as he was uncertain of the morality of his actions and did not want his students to witness it.
It appears that he had discussed the matter with Yuta and had also elaborated on the potential consequences of his actions. In Gojo’s words, if he were to be defeated by Sukuna and the leaders were to be killed, Yoshinobu Gakuganji would rise to the highest position in the world of Jujutsu. Such a scenario would prevent events like the chaos after the Shibuya incident from happening.
Yuta then pleads with his sensei not to transform into a “monster.”In response, Gojo explains that it was a necessary step for him to take. He felt as though he had been “left behind”and needed to catch up to “him.”
It is highly probable that Gojo is referring to his closest companion, Suguru Geto. After the Star Plasma Vessel Arc, Geto experienced a drastic transformation and decided to pursue his own path. Tragically, he met his demise while trying to rescue Rika from Yuta. Due to his actions, Geto was labeled with monikers such as “Worst Sorcerer”and “Monster.”
Therefore, when Gojo took it upon himself to kill the higher-ups, he was shouldering the same heavy weight as his companion. This is further emphasized by Gojo’s statement to Yuta, “Love is the most twisted curse,”as it directly relates to his own predicament of having to witness his beloved friend’s death and live with the aftermath.
Despite being constantly surrounded by his students and colleagues at Jujutsu High, the absence of Geto left him feeling lonely. No one else shared a bond with him that came close to the strong connection he had with Geto.
Final thoughts
It was a major revelation that Gojo was the one responsible for killing the higher-ups instead of Yuta. Up until chapter 261, the latter had been given credit for their deaths. This further highlights Gojo’s deep concern for his students as he willingly took on the burden of their demise.
Moreover, the very act of instructing them to leave before engaging in the fight serves as evidence of his desire to protect them from any potential danger. It is almost as if he had foreseen his defeat in the Sukuna battle. Therefore, by sacrificing himself, he would absolve them of any responsibility and enable his successors to move on without any burden of guilt.
